Please meet Pam.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Please meet Pam.

Postby campmaster-k » Sun Jun 03, 2012 1:32 pm

As I do many early Sunday mornings I went to the flea market looking for orphan lanterns. Just as I was about to give up I found Pam. Pam is the newest member of Coleman Recovery INC. Pam is was born April - 1959 and she is a class act. She has always been a kept woman, never wanted for anything. Her paint is clean and shinny and her large brimmed hat is almost perfect. Pams tank came clean as a whistle and full of fuel. Eager to please, Pam fired right up smooth as silk. Pams mantles are old but they are perfect. I give you Pam.

The problem is I paid waaaaaay to much for Pam. I have been trying to "break the ice" with this guy at the flea. He always has Coleman stuff I want but his prices are too high. So today I decided to just talk to him pay what he wanted and maybe we can play nice. I gave 20 bucks. Way more than I would normally pay. :o

I don't know, in that condition I'd say she was worth every penny. But then again, I understand that you have to budget for your addiction :R  8)

If you would have liked to pay, say $15, you can look at it two ways; either you over paid by 33% (which sounds kind of bad), or it only cost you 5 bucks more for something that gives you more than 5 bucks worth of entertainment value and pleasure.

Seen what a movie ticket goes for these days? That won't be as loyal or as long lived as Pam. She's a keeper! :applause:

Okay, now I'm an enabler. ;)

You did a good thing by rescuing Pam. You don't need to do anything to her. That's worth the extra $5 just so you have a clean worker and you can spend your time coaxing the others to play nicely.

O K three questions : how do you really know so much about (her) past ?

Its just more fun than saying " Hey dudes got another lantern". Oh yea, that and the fact that the lanterns speak to me. Did I forget to mention that before? 8)

They dont speak to you ?

I am just a spoiled brat. I bought another lantern which I will name and show later that was almost as good for $5 at the same flea. So thats the rub, $5 one minute and $20 the next. I just feel really lucky that I have that flea near me in a town where the recent discovery of electricity has let loose all these lanterns. They start serving  at 6am so be ready to fight or go to jail by say 10:00 am. I am not kidding.

Welcome Pam! :applause: Nice set of silklite mantles your wearing. Good score campmaster-k. I would've paid $20 for her, she looks to be in really good shape. Love the bighats.

Kirk.....I really think you do need some help. You are now anthropomorphizing Coleman lanterns, perhaps some counseling might be in order. Just an idea. Dude....they're just lanterns.

But master I learned it all from you. What about Charge! I have been waiting for Charge to come out and try something with the ladies. And I believe its transference and not Anthropomorphizing, they speak to me. I never said I speak back. But you are probably right because now that I think about it I do yell at them sometimes . Only when they try to burn me.

You are correct Anthropomorphism is the correct term for this situation. Ever talk to your dog or car or lawnmower when it wont start? Hmmmmmmmm. 8)

And so what if I need help. Its just lanterns. If could be alot worse. And you all get the entertainment .

All joking aside If you are like me and you have say, ----- over 70 lanterns - number them and give them a name is has helped me keep track of this mess. I now know that I have 24 lanterns that burn and work. More are coming on line every week. I know there are many of you who have hundreds of lanterns. I have seen the pics.
