Door Design

Does anyone recommend a company that has pre-built doors? I am looking for something with 4 radius corners.

I am also not opposed to building my own I only have some concerns about making them weather proof. Can someone point me to the supplies (a grocery list if you will) of what to get and where to get it.

I would like to model it after the design/look of the door below.

The door latches are going to be an issue too I think. The door is (will be) 3/4 inch thick plywood. I would like a latch that can be opened from the inside as well as the outside. Security is not a huge issue but would like a lock (just enough to keep honest people honest). I am mostly looking for a paddle style like the one in the picture above but again it needs to fit in a 3/4 inch door!

Before spendin' alot of $$$ on em' Try buildin' a set. Most folks builds their own with little problems.

Yeah, I agree, try building them first.

I bought mine, probably the biggest mistake I made with my Trailer. Took as much time to modify as what it would probably take to build.

Ezbie, everyone's right above, except if you want a certain "look" that can can only be accomplished by a pre-made door.

But as far as this choice being more waterproof--forget it. You're still going to have to frame your opening and do everything else to make it waterproof. Whether you build the door yourself or buy one, same thing.

You may want to give a shoot out to Cary at CampInn. They have door kits and you can get custom stuff done or get their kit for a standard CampInn door. Great people to deal with.

If I didn't build a TD I would buy from them.

You know, Slayer, I imagine a lot of people participating on this forum feel that way about one or more people. But one thing we've learned (hopefully) is that inflammatory remarks tend to start arguements and we've all agreed that we won't allow that to happen. It makes for a rather unpleasant atmosphere..........................and that's not what any one of us is here for. Besides, we don't want to upset the Admins. So I personally have been trying to bite my tongue when I see a remark which irks me. (I'm not always sucessfull, but I try.) After you have been on the site for a little longer, maybe then you can objectively evaluate who is "good" or "bad", but name-calling isn't allowed.

I don't agree with you, nor do I agree with Gage, as neither of you are completely wrong with your view. In the past I have suffered thru some of what I think Gage stands for. On the forum there is a tendency to go with the flow or step back because those who oppose it are sometimes unduly criticized. I have seen completely wrong information presented by someone who is embraced by the group as a so-called expert yet don't say anything lest ye be crushed by the rest of the so-called experts.

Grant Whipp just introduced a product that looks almost identical to what you have described. At $395 ea. they ain't cheap, but I believe that they are what you are looking for. I haven't used them, so I don't have an opinion about whether or not you should use them. Find 'em here:

I have looked around and found some useful information but sometimes it is helpful to just ask the question and get all the information consolidated in one post. I have searched and have spent hours sifting though unrelated post, and while I have found some new ideas during the search process the majority has been irrelevant to what I was looking for. I understand that chances are the questions I ask have been asked time and time again with very good answers. Being as I am new to the forum it is helpful to ask someone to point me in the right direction and possibly refer me to another post, which I am fine with. If I walk into a library wanting to look something up I know that the information is there somewhere but often it is helpful to just ask the librarian to direct me to the right place instead of wandering the library for hours searching blindly.

Now another question. What entry door latches does everyone prefer? I found and like these...

does anyone have any experience with any latches from Southco? My concern with these is working with the T molding and the latches.

The entry doors really have me scared otherwise construction of my TD has gone astonishingly smooth. I will post some pics soon with my progress. I am building without a plan (only what's in my head) and kinda dealing with issues as they arise
