14*7 V-Nose Conversion

Started this project about a year and a half ago with a new 14*7 Vnose Cargo trailer. I worked on it here and there and am now finished except the front counter and bottom cabinet.
The trailer has just about everything needed except Hot Water (may put in a 4 gal tank later). Put in the outside shower last weekend. The bigest job overall was removing the paneling and then insulating and replacing the paneling. All in all, I am please with how functional it is. Used it again this weekend with my son. It was great.

I have full power and a 1200W Inverter running off a deep cycle batter to power fridge and etc. on the road and a generator to recharge and run when shore power is not available. I also have a fresh water tank and and hand pump when water hookup is not available.

The trailer was new @ $2,900 + taxes and plan about $2,000 for all the other materiel and parts. It does add up quick, but if you shop e-Bay, craigslist, and get things at Home Depot or Lowes when on sale, you should be able to complete for about $5,000 total. I may have slightly more than that, but I bought a few things I did not end up using.

Certainly at least half the cost or less than the same size Toy Hauler that probably isn't as well built. The trailer has a steel frame on 12" centers with aluminum sides and dual axles with brakes. Dry wieght before mods is 1,975 lbs.. Not sure what it is now.. someday I will weigh it, but I bet fully loaded, it is still less than 3,000lbs. Cab pull with any 1/2 ton pickup.

I was thinking I needed a table when I want to eat indoors, use the laptop or etc.. I wanted a fold down table not taking up space when not needed, so I came up with an idea to buy a 5' Folding table at Walmart for $34.00 and take it apart and use half of it taking advantage of the hinges and drop legs. I simply then added some E-Channel hardware to other top rail withtop and legs removed.. and viola.... fold down table. :-) I could have made one from plywood I suppose, but this only took me 30 minutes to make and didn't have to cut, hinge, paint or etc.. Plus.. I have a spare top and other parts.

Opened Up. Takes literally 30 seconds to convert.

I like your table idea and am seriously considering paying hommage to you by incorporating it in my build. I was going to make a fancy foldup out of wood but this is more practical.

Many thanks. Glad I could share something useful. I have some front cabinets and countertop to build up front. Will share those as I get them done. The camper is missing some countertop space and a place to permanently mount the microwave.

Well, I won't get the front cabinet done this weekend. I decided to go scuba diving instead. Have to have priorities and the opportunity presented itself. :-) I did however, get something done on the toy hauler. I added the FOX accent decals to the outside. I like them.. kind of break up the all black sideds. I also added the outside "porch" light. It works great and will be real useful. I'll try again next weekend.

I got it where I got most things for my conversion... Ebay. There are a lot of camper parts and accessories out there. Prices aren't always much better than say buying from CamperWorld.. but overall, there are some good deals on new equiment.

I ordered a set of these Air Lift Springs to level off my F-150 when pulling my trailer loaded. The trailer wants to squat the truck and it gets bouncy with dips in the road and etc.. Has anyone used these? Will they make a noticeable difference? I sure hope so. Towing a bunch of gear up to NC for a week of camp and for $230 I thought they would be a worthwhile investment.

I do have a simular set on my single tire one ton Dodge Cummins. I installed them because I had a big Lance cabover. It made a big difference and they worked great. You will want to play with your air pressure to adjust your ride. If I remember max was 60lbs in mine. For my purpose, the best ride and stability was 40 lbs. It took me a couple of trips to figure it out, but yes they work great.
