I am getting ready to skin the exterior of my Tear and have hit a small road block. I am not sure what glue to use to laminate the Coro to the ply walls. The manufacturer stated that coro is polypropolene based and that many glues will not stick permenantly.

Any suggestions? I did speak to the Henry guys and they stated that same thing. They don't have a product for polypropolene based products.

I'm sure things have changed since I was in the plastic industry, but polyethelyne was designed to carry adhesives in the first place, so it didn't used to be able to be solvent welded. (anything with the term "poly" still fits into that catagory, I'd think) It CAN be contact cemented if the surface is treated properly. If memory serves me correctly, that requires flame treating and is not easily accomplished in a hobby shop invironment. I'd just keep checking with adhesive manufacturers..........or even with Coroplast, to see what they say. Sorry I couldn't help.

In the Farmex/polymax thread is the way Sid and Ron did their polymax. Sid used tape and Ron used a Henry's glue. Both were happy with thier results.

Being as it was only a 'prototype', some of the front of my strange little ComforTmax scooter never got beyond being made of Coroplast, held in place/together with duct tape:

It went through appalling storms without coming off, so whatever the adhesive of duct tape is, that sticks just fine to Coroplast. So I'd try the double-sided tape Mike linked to.

The doublestick tape worked great for me. It was 3M part # 950-2. I have used all that I had and still need to do the galley hatch. I have one more piece of polymax ordered from Farmtek for the galley, so I ordered a roll of their industrial strength double faced plastic tape (part # LJ7587) for $5.95 per 25 yard roll. Hope the results are the same because it sure made life easy.

Ron Shaw has used the Henry carpet adhesive with good results also. The advantage with Henry's is you have time to work with it and line things up before it sets up. He has some photos in his gallery.

With the tape, it's instant stick.

Thanks Sid I am trying to locate the 3M tape locally. If I can't find it I will order some. I did find the Farmtek tape on their website and may order it from them. I found some different 3M double sided tape and bought some to try it out on scrap pieces with poor results. I was able to pull the pieces apart with little effort. The stuff I tried is used for taping carpet to concrete floors.

...Spad, a really really different stuff from the 3M VHB tape...one source may be aa auto paint and supply house.....it is used to apply some trim and decals
