finnished my teardrop

Postby wingrydr57 » Sun Jun 10, 2012 9:09 pm

I would like to thank everyone here for all the help on the build of my tear drop camper. We just got back from a camping trip and it pulled beautifully behind my goldwing trike. My tear drop is a 4x8 , when i figure out how to get some pics on here I would love to share them. I downloaded a program to re size the pics but gosh there is so much stuff on it I cant figure it out :x

Clear skies, and thanks everyone, Steve Wicker

If the installed program is too complicated, have you tried any of the free online utilities such as http://www.webresizer.com/

:applause: BEAUTIFUL!
And thanks for the captions on the pix. Until I found the one on the galley, I thought you had invented a new type of hatch cover - one that retracted! But given the talent I see on here, someone probably already has and I just haven't found it yet.

Very very nice. What does it weigh? Is your roof just skinned with vinyl? How thick are your walls? Just wondering how you kept the weight low enough to pull it with a bike. Do you have trailer brakes?

Sorry about all the questions, but inquiring minds want to know....

it comes in at 525 lbs. The roof has 1/8 inch masonite on it first then aluminum printing plates then the marine vinyl over that. The printing plates are pretty thin but will protect the masonite if the vinyl gets a cut etc.The walls are 1/2 inch birch ply with 8 coats of marine polyurethane. Cabinets are all pine stained and gloss varnish. No I dont have trailer brakes but the brakes on my trike are from a honda crv , the trike is 61 inches wide so it has a nice wide stance for good handling and it has independent suspension with a rollbar. The goldwing gl1800 also has a 6 cyl motor also. 8)

Thanks for the pics! :applause: :applause:

That's the best of both worlds. Riding out in the open with the wind in your face and a comfy place to sleep at night!

with 6 cyl and no body weight, I bet your trike tows more than most small cars. 525 lbs should be a breeze.
