Welcome JB
Keeping the weight to under 400 kg 880 lbs is going to take some doing to meet EU requirements. The propane stove that you are looking at is very high output and probably meant to be used for a turkey fryer. A better choice that will ship to Europe http://viewitem.eim.ebay.eu/Portable_Propane_Gas_Stove_Iron_Cooktop_Range_w_Reg/160490411229/item

Greetings from Scotland.

Your Burton is very cool. It would look great pulling a teardrop trailer.

There are other people on the forum who are building for a 2CV, so you could start by looking at their builds.

Remember to take lots of photos. :D
Kind Regards, BigAl.

Greetings from Colorado, I was thinking , if you need to keep low weight to meet the 400 KG trailer limit, you may want to consider this lightweight propane stove...:

i know there aint a lot of peaple who build it themselve

i had a ffolding car bought as a base but after stripping is was pretty have. now i''l just by een braked axle en averything is needed for it.
the jacks i want to make verry simple (i've seen some who you just "pul out" when your nose wheel aint in use, after you use your nose wheel the teardrop stands on 3 points and is stable'

i have been calculating the weight and i think i can build one for 300kg. the rest wil be the propane en watertank and some clothes. the rest will fit in the car. (the car itselve weights just 470 kg empty so extra weight is recomendet when you go towwing)

the whole combination will look great yes, at the moment i get already all the attention on the road, think of it when its complete. even the police doesn't make my life hard on the road or when i'm parking on the sidewalks :D

i love the looks of ithe stove but i didn't realise that the burner is that big . someone sent me a store in holland where i can by a smaler burner.

JB Welcome to the forum and greetings from Finland. I really like the car you have.

Here is a stove that possibly you might be interested in also. These are also made according to Eu standards. The stoves purchased from the States may not be and the connectors are different and also one thing is to remember the size and availablity of the gas type we have in Europe. That is an important factor also.

also this one which weighs just a bit over 2 kilo.

This shop is very big with good products and I have purchased a lot of camping equipment from them.

Here is a website for you also. http://www.coleman.eu/Benelux/default.aspx

Also building the frame out of aluminum as what the utility frames are made from here in Finland nowadays as well as using the sandwich method with alufibre you can build a fairly lightweight tear for your car. Also there are many places in Germany to buy parts from as well as the outer lining for your new tear. Including Holland. If I can help you with anything please let me know. :) Also H@nk is a very good source for you also.

Teardrop trailers are not popular here in our country either but over the years Ive researched a lot of sources from all over Europe to purchase parts and materials.

Alufibre is made in Holland. ;) Here it is used for caravans as well as boats.

What Is Alufiber ®?

It's not Fiberglass.

It's not Aluminum.

Alufiber® combines aluminum with fiberglass to create to most durable finish available in the industry.

Alufiber® has a high-gloss automotive finish and is easier to clean than traditional fiberglass and aluminum finishes. Plus, it contains a UV resister to reduce yellowing and fading.

The composition of Alufiber is as follows:

1.Precoated aluminum
2.1st resin layer
3.Fiberglass layer
4.2nd resin layer
5.Pressing/Curing Process
6.Equals Alufiber

It's the latest composite matieral than combines aluminum, fiberglass, resins and a hi-gloss finish to create the most durable exterior finish in the industry.

Key Features:

•Alufiber weighs 15% less than fiberglass.
•Alufiber is more durable and dent resistant than Aluminum.•Alufiber has a Hi-Gloss automotive quality finish.
•Alufiber has a very good UV resistance. It will not yellow or fade like fiberglass.•Alufiber is easy to clean because it's smooth surface prevents dirt builld up.
•Alufiber is available in white, silver, red, yellow & aqua.

Here is another helpful website for you.

Hope this helps you a bit. Take a lot of photos of your tear for us.

Wishing you all our best :)

Hello JB,
Welcome to the forum, there are plenty of helpful people here, generous with their ideas and plans, it's a nice place to share ideas.

Love the Burton, it has got to be the best "kit" for a 2CV, although I do like the Hoffman Cabrio, oddly I prefer the looks of the 3 wheel Lomax compared to the 4 wheel model.
I have a 2CV and I am designing a caravan or t.t.t that can be easily pulled by a 2cv, I am too old for tents now, I am aiming for 300-350 Kg, with a chassisless tortion box design, weight of everything has to be taken into account.
Your teardrop looks super, what does it weigh? is a Burton a lot lighter than a 2CV? what size wheels are you using?
Do you have any photos of your build?

I saw a Burton at a World meeting, it was a metallic champagne colour, it looked beautiful.
Enjoy your camping and this forum.
Kind regards Alan

The car and the trailer make an awesome combination! :D From the picture it looks as if the fender on the trailer matches the fender on the car. My dream is to make a teardrop that mirrors the lines of the tow vehicle - but first I need to get a tow vehicle that I like and that will do the job! Enjoyed looking at the build pictures on your website. Great job! :applause: :applause: :applause:

@ chanal

my tear has a aluminium chassis and i'm afraid it will be over 400 kg. (the maximum weigth i'm allouwd to tow with a braked axle). i didn't yet put it on a scale. in the future i would use sandwich panels instad of a thick wooden wall.

a burton is lighter than a 2cv. my donor car had a weight of 590 kg on paper and the burton weights 490 kg on paper.

the rims are special disignt by the disigner of the burton and fits on a 2cv. i use the tire for a normal 2cv (the 135 mm one)

i-ve seen the champagne color burton on foto's (its from belgium). its a nice coulor for it

@ indycamper
the fender is indeed the same fender as te one on the burton. just like the wheels, backlighting and the hinge. for me it where those details that finish the tear. other special things for me are the boat windows witch can open and a muscito netting can be installed. another special thing is the aluminium lpg cylinder. some people say that gas is for cooking and not for driving. well, i'm using the lpg for cooking :D

my build can be followed on my website www.burton.come2me.nl (first it was the website of the burton build) en my foto site http://burton.mijnalbums.nl/ (in the map 2012-06-12 are the latest pictures of my tear)

as i already said, my tear aint finished yet but its usable
