A rare Coleman

Last week I went to yet another estate sale in town. Didn't look to promising but I fought my way to the basement and in a little workshop area I found this. I have spent the past few days working on it and once again it breathes fire. It had not been used to much so I didn't have to big of a job. Which is good for ole lazy me.



It says it is a 228F

Lantern sets pretty and proud. I do often lower the saw blade when I use the TS for a table. Messy shop in background. At least there is a real oxy/acetylene rig.

A rare one lives again



Is it just me or does that remind you of Darth Vador?

This is the first time I have completely torn down and rebuild a lantern. It didn't really need much. Burner frame was a bit rusty and the vent is missing some porcelain. I didn't pull the check valve and I might have to soon as it doesn't always seal but give it another pump or two and it does. I might put a bit of CF down there and put the plunger back on and pump that through.

So, was it a good weekend?

The next order from Oldcoleman might include a red knob and some decals for it. Dress it up a bit more.

Looks good....Just wondering was it like this when you found it or did you remove the paint and polish the metal?
Either way it looks good, a red knob would dress it up as well as a new decal.

I was going to paint it but I got the paint all stripped off and it didn't look to bad. Not a nickel font by any means and really can't shine it up to much more and even if a person did the die marks would still be visible. But I like it and not to many people will complain about me doing that to an F model.

My 200A's have been living in fear the past few weeks. Next order I make for parts will probably have a red knob.
