I thought if it said Coleman Collector, I might be in violation of some trademark or copyright law.?

Displaying their logo is probably a no no, but I doubt if they would care.

I wondered if I should blur their logo on the lanterns/stove.

If you read their copyright notice on their website it has a jaw full of teeth. They seem to be pretty protective. The context of your saying "White Gas" is very reminiscent, it also covers the full spectrum of the products expanding your audiance. I would just remove the logo completely. People who understand the white gas principle will understand the jest of the saying and images, those that do not might be prompted to ask, leading to a while new world for them. I like it.

I"m no attorney...but wouldn't showing images of their products, regardless of it having a logo or not be infringement on copyright?

Just checked....2nd line..."including images"

The website specifically is referring to material on their website. The photo's are not from their website.

I've sent them a note. I'll probably get a canned response, but we'll see.

It never hurts to ask. Designing the cover of my book turned out to be a bigger issue than writing it. My editor and publisher were like pit bull's. The publishing date was pushed back three times until all the usage permissions were cleared by the lawyers. But the mug looks really cool and clear, the detail is fantastic, I hope you get to keep it as it is.

I regret to say that I think they will take it VERY seriously and you will get more than a canned response. But I would like it just as much if the logos were removed! (Somehow I already have 3 lanterns and a stove and I don't even collect. No really, I could stop anytime...)

The mug pictured in the only one I've made so far, so I can easily remove the listing to comply with whatever they want. I'm curious about the people that sell the coleman replica decals. Are they paying royalties?

Paul....I didn't mean to be MR. Negative...I really hope that you can do it. The details and graphics look great, but there is no doubt on who's equipment that is. I know that the ICCC has gotten permission from them for their use of logos etc. I've done up a couple of T shirts that have used one of their logos from the 30's...but then I'm not actively selling them... Just made up a couple for some fellow campers. The lanterns and stoves that I've seen for embroidery machines is very generic. Doug

Paul, I guess you could always use some images of Preway and Akron appliances (just to name a couple). There isn't much chance of them putting up a fuss, as they're been out of business for a few decades ;)

That would make them more unique too.
