Site slowing down?

Postby Micro469 » Tue Mar 21, 2006 10:40 pm

I don't know if it's my computer, router, ISP, or this forum, but it seems to be taking forever to refresh pages, and switch from one forum to another, and to post. Does anyone else have that problem ? Just trying to figure out wether its me or this page. Thanks for input.

I have high speed cable and notice this site is slow at times. It was just a few minutes ago. It also could be neighbors slowing things down at peak times like now. It took longer than usual to preview this reply.Danny

It was slow last night/this morning. It would hang up on occasion during the afternoon but it started getting better as the day progressed.

Dean - What is the Googlebot? And how did you know? And should we fear it?

Fred,
I looked up it's IP address... The address is owned by Google.
Googlebots are good... The information they view is used by Google to compile the search results when people do a Google search... Like on "Teardrop Trailers for example.
Your site has been googled... I did a google on Alaska Teardrop and you came up #1.

I was slow yesterday too. If it doesn't speed up today I'll submit a trouble ticket.

Not the googlebot

Postby Guy » Wed Mar 22, 2006 1:09 pm

Dear John,

Unfortunately large number of folk searching the site using Google site search was not the problem. It was actually Google doing a complete indexing of this site. When they periodically do that to sites they actually send out indexing programs with over 100 separate connections to a site. Some times that overwhelms even the largest of sites. I actually have a program I use, when I want to download an entire site, which allows me to have over 500 connections to a site at one time. It is a real bandwidth hog.
Regards,

Guy
