This was one of the lead stories online today.....

If that doesn't make you feel blessed to have a teardrop, I don't know what will.

I am in the Pest Control Business and let me tell you there is not a hotel that we service that does not have bed bugs now or has had bed bugs. I will not stay in any hotel any where! I have even found them in the $1'000 dollar a night penthouse sweets. :frightened:

I was thinking. If they didn't have bedbugs, then it's possible that they didn't need a pest-control service.

All most all good motels have a pest control service. They are constantly battling spiders, ants, and other insects.

The first thing I do when we check into a hotel is pull down all the sheets and check the mattresses to see if I can see any indication of them before we even bring our bags in out of the car. Once the teardrop is done we will only have to stay in hotels when we visit our grandchildren because they are not within driving distance. That will also be the only time we fly, but that's a whole 'nuther conversation. Other than that, it's road trips only for us and we take our own bed.

Grateful For Your Own Clean Bed

Postby Ocelli » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:49 pm

I also am in pest control business.
Bed bugs are hitchhikers, and with the hundreds or more people thru the door of any hotel they WILL get bedbugs occasionally. It's the low budget hotels that don't have a preventative bedbug program in place that are a problem.
The hotels I will stay in will keep bedbugs on check.
I do inspect every room I stay in before I even bring up my luggage. However, if I ever find bedbugs, I quietly notify manager and ask to be moved to another floor and wing of hotel. Now, if I see them there as well...I'm out of there.
Just know what and where to look for a problem so you DON'T BRING THEM HOME WITH YOU.

Don't want to scare y'all but bedbugs are found in offices, movie theaters, coat check rooms, hospitals, restaurants ...no one is immune.

It is job security for me :)

 And you even find them in those places where they sell mattresses! :frightened: They make covers for mattresses that claim to keep them out. My mom said her mom put kerosene on the bed posts to keep them away! :frightened:

Yup, hotel I work in has had them a few times but they were caught very early.
I don't shop garage sales and used stores much anymore cause of them. but they even find them in new stores.

I was told one technique for your luggage is to put it all in the bathtub while you inspect your bed.

Oops, sorry.

I didn't post with the intention of scaring anyone. I just thought it would make us all feel smug about how genius we are for building a teardrop to travel in. :)

GPW.......The best way of not bringing Bed Bugs in to your house is empty all of your wife's stuff in the driveway in to a plastic bag. Take that directly to the dryer and empty it in to the dryer and run it on high. Do not set the plastic bag down in the house take it outside and put it in the trash can out side. Do not bring the suitcase in to the house. Park your car where it will be in the sun all day and place the suitcase in the trunk along with any thing that could not go in the dryer. It should get about 120 in your trunk if it is 85 or higher during the day where you live. Leave it in there for a day or two, this should kill the bed bugs. They do not do well in high heat.
