You Were Right.

I was beginning to think you all were making things up. I'd pulled my trailer to a state park, gone to trail maintenance workshops, and a chainsaw/logger get together. I wasn't asked much about my trailer. In fact, at the trail thing, a guy lectured me on how tents were better! A timber faller at the logging thing did ask to look at it and declared that he wanted one. But that was it.

Then I hauled it to a bluegrass festival. On the way there, I had 2 people asking questions as I filled up my pickup gas tank. I had a guy walk up while waiting for a pilot car at a road construction delay. Then folks were wandering over during the bluegrass event and wanting "tours". One (looked about 8 years old) boy was very interested. I told him about this site and how maybe if he started now, he could have a trailer built by the time he was old enough to drive.

On the way home, I was first in line at the construction site. The flagger had to peek in the windows. Then more questions as I filled up with gas...

So, I guess you all were right about curious people.

no one ask about tours of a RV but when I have Charley there people come over look in the windows i offer a tour and they love it. I had someone from Japan taking pictures of her at a gas station on the trip home. love it.

Today was the first time I got to pull the trailer. So I towed to work and it wasnt about 3 hourse and had to give three tours. Also had a note taped to the window asking about where I got it.

It's hard when you're on a tight time schedule. You go in for a quick tank of gas and you have to give tours. We kinda have a system, my wife gives tours while I pump gas.

I have not had a lot of lookers at gas stops. Had a few getting groceries. Some at camp grounds. Given a few rangers a tour. Lots of relatives. Of course I do get a few looks when people notice me standing in mine.



At Burning Man, camped with 2 other TDs and we gave a lot of tours.

A warning based on my experience,

DON'T OPEN THE HATCH when @ the gas station or food store, You will almost have to be rude to get out of there

I've only made one trip from Eastern NC to Charleston with a partially completed tear (cooking pull out not done and one cargo door duck tapped on). I had several cars taking picture on I-95 through car windows --- on even slowed to get a better angle and I set my cruise on 72 but thats I-95. They could wait until I clean an buff the thing out .

Used the barn a week ago last Saturday to haul some lumber and on the way home I decided to hit a few yard sales. I had several folks comment on my storage barn utility trailer and I had to of course correct them by explaining it was a camper. They just had to see after that comment.

I have given tours in gas stations , grocery store parking lots and dozens and dozens in the parks while camping. I love it and will always take the time to show them off. I want to be a good spokesman for the tiny trailer sector.

One thing I have learned since I started out with Gertrude a few months ago is that people are proud of their campers! Have yet to stop anywhere without having at least one person ask about the teardrop, and at least once each trip someone wants to reciprocate my tour by showing me their rig!

not a tear drop but when I went to pick up my Scamp in Minnesota while stopped at a rest area
I was in the back of the van when one of the attendants came up and ask about the trailer
I finished hooking up the battery and when I went to close the scamp's door guess who was inside
yep the attendant, really pissed me off I checked and nothing was missing mostly because
all I had was bed stuff I was not a gentleman that day.

We were moving and I had 2 trailers, and one tow vehicle, put the tear on the car hauler, problem solved. Kinda funny that I got more looks and stares when I had my tear on top of my car hauler than when I just tow it. Maybe they thought it was special since it wasn't being towed.
