Those wheels are WAAAAAY too far forward.

Thanks, This was my learning curve. :o I am looking on a actually 8'x4' cargo trailer so at list the wheels would be on the right place. I would rebuild the galley with much more less heavy materials and ad a cargo box at front. Another thing that I noticed is that my left tire is loosing some pressure. So, I'll get that taken are too.
I'll get to it this weekend. It was a great experience for me and my son. :applause: I guess the next trip will be a much better and faster ride than this one after taking care these issues.

Having seen the pics I agree 100% with bobhenry.

I usually carry three - 6 gallon jugs of freshwater which full weight about 150#. With two in the tongue box and one in the galley I have the tongue weight I need and if not can easily adjust with just those jugs or the grey water on the way home. That could be a way you could address the balance issue quickly without having to rebuild your galley and just extend the tongue and add a simlple box or even just a platform with tie-downs.

Your trailer is nicely sized for your Bug and the profiles very similar. Looking good!

Thanks, That is a great idea. I am building a matching trunk for the front so I can store must of the stuff to balance the weight. Yes, I just noticed how far forward is my axle and I know now that is a no-no. :NC I am learning one bolt and nail at the time.

Wow :D
What A great thread
Although I grew up towing a cox tent trailer I never paid attention to how my mom packed it or things like tongue weight!
Thanks everyone for the great education.
I will definitely be trying the water jug trick

I would be very surprised if you could alter the weight distribution enough to stop the trailer swaying. Just adding weight at the front, or lengthening the tongue are unlikely to be able to overcome the problem of the axle being in the wrong place for the trailer body (or the other way around, if you prefer).

Moving the axle back is likely to be the only thing that will make the trailer stable.
