I have power, but work that's a mile down the road does not. Feds are on liberal leave or telework if you have power. I am one of the fortunate ones with power. Lent generator to friend who didn't.

My neighbor and I took out 5 huge dying trees several weeks ago (he did most the work, I picked up sticks lol). I'm so glad those trees were down prior to the storm!

It's amazing to see the limb and tree damage. Way worse than Irene. Tree tops were twisted off.

I watched my 2 fairly young cherry trees swirl round and round in the winds. I kept telling them to hang in there! They did fine. Tree at neighbor's across the street was struck by lightning and split. Fortunately, it was relatively small.

Crews are working hard to get debris out of the roads in my area. Neighbors are helping each other and giving cold water and drinks to the workers. Many public messages are being broadcast on radios about generator safety. Two families have been poisoned by CO in the area and one fire caused by gennys. People are being warned about downed live wires.

we were lucky the lights only flickered couple times my friends power was out for three days came on and went out again.

Rat, Glad to hear you’re OK ... Power now , but as they hook it up again , you may have some “interruptions” ... Might plan for that anyway ... We had power interruptions for months after our storm ...

Cowboy , I was speaking in an idealistic manner ... thinking it would be possible ... and as you know , somebody would also find a way to make it profitable , a public service that should be provided anyway to those in need ... Don’t expect Congress to consider this , nobody’s Lobbied for it yet ...

They can however build an oil/gas line from Canada ... All about the Money !!!

Our power just came back on this morning. A transformer on a pole in front of our house was hit by lightening. Lance and I slept straight through it but our neighbor said it sound like a huge explosion. We tried to buy a generator but they were rare as hens teeth around here and the one we did find, in a small mom & pop store, they wanted to charge about $150 more than it was worth. Fortunately our neighbor let us run a cord from his generator so we were able to keep our refrigerator going and didn't lose all our food again like we did when Irene hit. We will definitely be buying a generator when Tractor Supply gets restocked. Our power goes out 3 or 4 times a year out here and it seems like the outtages just get longer and longer.
We were sure happy to have our Coleman stuff though and Lance happily made us breakfast and coffee in the morning on our Coleman cookstove. No power tools though, so no teardrop work. I probably wouldn't have worked too much anyway with it being so hot.
