What teardrops can do to your social circle-extend your life

Postby nevadatear » Mon Jul 02, 2012 11:15 am

I was purusing the IRG roster this morning and realized that after only two years of attending a handful (maybe two handsful) of gatherings, we can identify and put a face to at least 50 folks on the list! And studies say the wider your social circle and more people you can call friends, the longer your life and younger your real age versus your chronological age. Thanks for making Randy and I more healthy.

However, this does not count the years subtracted from our ages due to over eating at fabulous food pot luck extravaganzas. looking forward to seeing all of our 2 year old friends and meeting new ones very soon at IRG. :wine:

Right on, Debbie, I can relate to that. When my sweet wife died 3 years ago, my doctor told me that a lot of old guys just sit home on the couch, drink bear and watch TV shows and never then leave the house, moping about the past. Then in about a year or so, they are under his care in a hospital with a stroke or a heart attack. "I don't want that to happen to you," he says. What he insisted that I do every day, was to get my 'people fix'. I had never heard of that and asked for a clarification. "Get outside, every day and talk to somebody, it doesn't matter who". I told him about my little woodie TD and how it gets me out of the house, often. I showed him a picture that I just happened to have in my pocket. It impressed him and asked if I could bring him a larger picture of it, and it is hanging above his desk in his office, today.

I have instructed the Doc that he has to keep me going for another 20 years, so I can celebrate my 100th B-day in my teardrop trailer. He feels that he will won't be hanging around that long, and I told him to go out and get a teardrop trailer, as soon as he retires. Not only does he take my bi-annual tests, but when finished with my medicals, he looks me in the eye and asks how I am doing, emotionally. What a guy. So, I use the TD as often as I can, and all of the 1000 plus folks that live in our complex here in the country, have an open invite to stop on by and talk trailers with me, and so many have showed up, I have lost count. Long live Teardrops and TTTs, they are keeping me going, and give me a reason to get up every morning. (Hey, I have to go out and walk the dog, Roxy, after her 5 minute jumping-around greeting that I get every day). She loves the TD and is looking forward to going to the IRG in a few weeks.
8) :) :D ;) Roly, the li'l ol' damned-near Octiginarian woody TDer from So Cal.
PS, the Doc has given me the green light to make another cross-country TD trip again this fall, so I guess I might as well do it, gotta see Newfoundland, where my Viking ancestors camped when they discovered america (remember, Leif landed first!)
