$25 worth of happiness

Postby High Desert » Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:11 pm

So I've been collecting bits and pieces for a looonng overdue build. I'm bound on determined to make it happen despite life being in the way. Figured I had enough to put together a frame using an old boat trailer axle and leaf springs. Then I found this on the local Craigslist...

Image

1700# rated torsion axle with brakes and three 5 x 4.5 12" wheels. All for a whopping price of $25!. Tires are shot but who cares? Maybe things are turning my way for a change lol. It has a 55" spread between the mounts but thats just fine, nothing a little creative fabricating won't take care of :twisted:

Just had to share it, this is the only group I know that would understand my excitement :lol:

Doug, I actually do have a profile picked out. It's Mike's Weekender II that he came up with a few months ago. The angles and dimensions really appealed to me for a first build. Lots of things to be learned and tried, and I'll try to keep it on the basic side (maybe);

Working on the plan is the larger objective right now. Time and money will always be hurdles to be dealt with of course but the first thing is work space. Need to reclaim my garage/shop, the rest will follow lol. I don't see this being a speed build, so I am going to stick to the teardrop time format in those regards. ;)
