I currently have an untreated piece of plywood on it (that I do not have the receipt for anymore) but I was thinking about replacing it with a treated 4 x 8 piece of plywood since I need a receipt for every part I put on the trailer to get it inspected.
Tuesday it goes to get inspected so I get tags on it which will be another $130.
My plan after that is to use 2 x 4's to build the floor for my tear drop to build it out over the wheel wells by an additional 6 inches on both sides to make it 5 feet wide.
I would also like to make it removable from the trailer so I can use the trailer as a utility trailer when I am not camping to haul dirt, wood, wood pellets, etc. Has anyone else done this?
The question I still have is to make the exterior out of wood or fiberglass. If I go with wood what should I seal it with and what kind of maintenance will that require? If I go with fiberglass how do I even make fiberglass or where can I find fiberglass sheets? Is there a material I am not considering that I should be considering? I thought of aluminum but I can see that getting dented very quickly.
I am also going to be towing this with a 4 cylinder 4wd 2006 Rav4 which can haul up to 1500lbs. There is a steep hill where I plan on camping that I am hoping doesn't give my any problems.
