bug n bike do you have any pictures of your trailer? Did you install e tracks for a bed when you arent hauling stuff?

The AC is supposed to arrive today and I am off tomorrow. We bought some LED rope lights, 4 breaker box, plugs and wiring to wire in the 110. I know 4 breakers is overkill but that is all the lowes we went to had in stock. My bigest concern is the connection from the breaker box to the outside. I need to find a 30 amp power inlet but the RV parts place I went to did not have any in stock. I will go check after work today to see if they got in some more.

I'm not going to touch this topic. (get it, massage trailer, ok bad joke) :rofl2:

Smiddy your trailer is cleaning up nice.

I hope you get it cooled down, as I'd hate to see you paint it white. Maybe Harley orange if you have to lighten it up? :fan:

Cheers

Well got the AC installed. My wife wasnt home so I carried it up the ladder by myself. Now I need a massage.

Got the breaker box wired in
Image

Put a piece of luan up to hide some of the wires. The rest will be hidden by the counter.

The white wires hanging there connect to the LED rope light that I will install tomorrow. I have to buy another torque wrench to tight the ac down and find an adapter so I can plug in the RV plug to regular house hold plug so I can test everything. Monday we are going to the Re-store to get some cabinets and a counter top.

Ok I am starting to think I will never have AC. I have 120 going to my breaker box. I have 120 going to all three plugs (in series) I installed. I have 120 going to my lights that work. I have 120 going to my AC. It blows air like crazy and works on all three settings of AC and of fan, but it does not blow cold air. I replaced the breaker, I tightened all of my connections, I unplugged the pig tail from the ac to the inside unit and plugged it back in but no cold air. I called RV part whole saler and they told me I could talk to a tech tomorrow. They said I could try calling Dometic but they just list a local place that services their units. So tomorrow I will call somebody. I really want to go camping this weekend but it is not looking good.

Well the AC problem was my fault. I saw a white wire, black wire and inch or so over a bare copper wire. So I wired it up using the bare copper wire as the ground....wrong, it was the thermostat. So I burned up the thermostat as soon as I turned on the power. The shop I took it to did not have one in stock so they ordered it and it should come in today. They will call me this afternoon and we will pick it up and take it to our first camp out.

The part did not come in until Monday so we did not go camping last weekend. We plan on doing it this weekend. I want to try to get the front counter area done before we go so lots of work to do.

Your AC build is starting to sound like mine. I didn't know about the lower/upper thing and only bought the upper. Then I needed the lower and a thermostat, but what the heck is that control box... then my buddy who is an AC whiz got his hands on it before the control box came in. He just knew he could make it work if he could get at all of those wires. I told him to clip the plug to make it easier... then the dang thermostat instructions fell out as-if-they-came-with-none... so we didn't know about powering it with 12v until he finally toyed with enough. Then I get it out on it's first road trip and the coil cracked (I bought it used and it was older than I'd have liked). Fortunately, I know a few AC guys, and someone was able to solder it up and top off the freon for a case of beer... She's been cooling ever since and I don't regret going roof top at all. I don't think you will either.

I couldn't have done my install myself though. Maybe, had the plug not been cut and the thermostat instructions not fallen out, I might have been able to do it.... I hope the rest of it is going well.

I dont have a 12 volt power source for my AC, just the 110. It blows very cold now, when I was in there working on tuesday it got so cold I had to turn the thermostat down to low and it was in the 90's outside. I plan on buying plywood and some cabinet doors today and work on the galley tomorrow before taking it to a campground on Saturday. If all goes well this weekend my wife is going to start using it next week for its intended purpose. Then maybe it will start paying me back for all the money I have put into it. :D

Got the cabinet doors installed. I picked up some at the Re-store like Don and Christy had done.

Yeah I know there is a gap in the front of the plywood but I figure that is wear the fridge is going to go when I get one. I hope to get the sink this week and install it so we can paint the plywood. The counter top is just plywood and the re-store had some veneer that I might get to put on top. They also had some wood laminate floor tiles that I thought might make a good counter top. Had anybody ever used those for a counter or table top?

Re: Massage trailer

Postby Smiddyt » Wed Jul 18, 2012 6:15 am

I decided to make the front part of the lower galley out of one piece of plywood because I did not like the gap that was there. My wife did not care but I did not want people coming in for massages and seeing it. I bought another piece of plywood yesterday but it was raining when I got home so will work on it tonight.

A friend of mine from the VFW works at a auto body place and said if I buy the paint he will paint the trailer for me. The AC cools it fine now even though it is black but my wife wants a clean slate to put her sign up. She is trying to decide if she wants a sign or the wrap thing, I guess it will depend on the price.

Does anyone know what size generator I will need to run the AC? It is a 13,500 btu and says it pulls 8 amps. Someone told me it will pull more at start up but I did not see that in the book that came with it. How many of you use a propane generator? That is what we want to get.

I saw on here that someone put brakes on their trailer, but dont remember who. Is that hard to do? I need to change at least one set of bearings because there is a stain around the hub, and may look at putting brakes on during that time.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Thanks
Smiddy

As for the generator go ahead and get at least a 2k 3k if it would not break you watts decided by volts gives you amps 2000\120=16.6amps 3k=25amps As for the brakes you can do them yourself it will be a dirty job get you a extinction cord and wire spices 2 for each tire and a few for mess ups, m/c clamps to hold wire up to trailer and a box for splicing it all together. You will need a battery with a box the battery is for powering it if it comes off trailer hitch the cord pulls and locks up the brakes and rip cord up at the hitch. I like your post read it ever day keep up the good work.

bctoys, thanks for the info on the generator. It is not in the budget yet but will be soon.

I have not taken the tires off yet but I do have the little cable that I always hook up with the chains on the hitch. Does that mean I have brakes? I have a small box (4x6) attached to the tongue but have not opened it because it is duck taped on. Does that mean I might have brakes?
