anybody watching the new Dallas series?

According to what I read from the producers before the first episode, Hagman will be in all of the episodes this seasons (10 episodes, counting the 2 the first night).

From what they said, though, he was undergoing cancer treatment when these were being filmed (last year) and they had to re-write some of the scripts to account for the fact that he wasn't physically able to work a full filming schedule (which is supposedly at least 10 hours a day).

My guess is that he'll probably be in it sparingly over the next couple of episodes. But, he'll be in it, none the less. Maybe some cameos where he's talking to John Ross over the phone, etc.

Since these episodes were filmed he is supposedly cancer free and a lot healthier than he was when they were filmed so if the show gets picked up for a second season he should be good to go.

The story lines have been progressing kind of quick anyway so with him "out of town" that gives them the chance to slow it down a tad and let the story develop.

I was thinking things were going a lot faster than the old series did, glad someone else noticed that too.

Always reminds me of "the good ole' days". We would wait all week for Friday night. Our kids were little and we were living in the country in a new little house I was building. I would come home from work and do my choirs, the wife had dinner fixed and we would eat, we would all get our baths and PJs on, fix a big batch of popcorn and watch, Dallas, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest.

I wonder if they will bring Gary (the brother that left and was on Knots Landing) into this new series?

If I had to guess what Cynthia Cidre was thinking with the pace of the show, they were probably figuring that the season of a typical cable show is half that of a regular network show so things need to move along kind of quick to get it all in.

The first two episodes were pretty jumbled with too much going on. Now, they have mostly settled into the fight for Southfork with the situation with Rebecca and her brother (we assume, anyway) as the back, less focused story. Which, IMHO, works pretty well.

With respect to Gary, as I understand it, they asked Ted Shackleford and Joan Van Arc to be in it this season but Shackleford turned it down because it was pretty much just a cameo. Probably something along the lines of Lucy and Ray if I had to guess.

So, no, it doesn't appear as though Gary will have anything to do with this season.

That said, since it would seem as though they would have done it with a meatier role it's entirely possible that something could be written for them next season if it's picked up.

Out of curiosity, did anybody watch Knots Landing?

The reason I ask was that the two shows pretty much paralleled each other right up until the point where Bobby "died" on Dallas.

They acknowledged his death on Knots. I wasn't really watching it much beyond that but kind of had the impression (through those in the household at the time who were) that they never acknowledged that it never happened a season later.

So, other than the fact that Gary and Val both (I think) appeared on the Dallas finale, the two shows seemed to be permanently separated?

I only saw the trailer on TV for the new Dallas series. Only part I saw was one of them out in the "field" at an oil rig with it gushing in the background. Gotta love hollywood. It was a water well drill on the back of a truck.

Dunno about the necklace; assume it will be revealed soon. I never associated nosebleeds with pregnancy, but being a man, what the heck do I know!

yes, i too never associate nose bleeds and pregnancy. and i am a female that has been with child. i just looked it up though and it is a normal thing. so i guess we really do learn something new everyday.

Yeah. Everybody assumed when the show started that Christopher would be the boy scout and John Ross the Satan spawn. While it certainly has elements of that Christopher is turning out to be a bit of an @SS.

3 episodes left of this season, by my count. I haven't seen the ratings yet. Hope it's doing well enough to get another season because you just know that the show that practically invented the cliff-hanger is going to end the season with one.
