Off to get my 1955 Benroy registered!

Postby TRP » Fri Jul 20, 2012 10:00 am

Good Morning Gang!

In about 20 minutes, I will be off to the DMV to get my 1955 Benroy registered here in California.

It's an original 57 year old trailer frame. The vin is barely legible.
It's been UN-registered for 20 years. DMV has no record of the trailer.
The trailer is listed to the guy who owned it before the guy before guy before I bought it (* three owners ago).

I plan to try and get PTI tags with YOM plates.

I have a bill of sale from each owner to trace the sale from person to person. I have a freshly restored plate from 51, with 55tabs. The vin has been acid washed and the number visibility improved a tiny bit.

How hard can this be? :?

Wish me luck!

Thanks for the well wishes, Nordy.

It may be too early to tell for sure, but I think we did it .

Trailer = In my name.
Year = 1955
Make = Benroy
Registration type = PTi
License Plate = YOM - 1951 California plate with 1955 'tab'.

Trailer even passed the 'inspection'.

Waiting to hear back from Sacramento for them to clear the plate I submitted. Should hear back from them in 30 days or so.

Thanks! :thumbsup:

Thanks! :thumbsup:
Ted

If the plate is a 'clear' plate and they reg it as a 'camp' trailer, there shouldn't be any problem. :thumbsup:
