That looks like a fun trip. And with near zero weather protection you will be roughing it unlike most these days. But not like the couple that drove it a few years back with their Model T and teardrop.

Found the links, did not think it would come up that easy.

Model T and teardrop

Also found this.

Texas Ts to Alaska

I have worked on Model Ts and driven them. It give me the hebbie jebbies just thinking about such trips. But I would do it in a drop of the hat if I could afford it and lose about 50-75 pounds. I just don't fit Model Ts any more.

I have a full canvas top for it, but there's no heater and the windshield wipers are "full manual" (just a knob to turn).

I remember those wipers. Well the driver side on the CJ3A had a vacuum motor on it. When it worked. Passanger had to fend for himself. The Model T's have a manual wiper on them. My CJ had a canvas top but it was never very good. The seam in the middle of the top came completely apart before I had it a year then I never used it again. I first got it when I was 13 yo. I drove it a few times to High School for drivers ed. We had a big farm back then. It was about 5 miles long and around 2 miles wide and lots of farm roads in it. That is where I did most of my driving as I did my work. In warm weather I took the windshield off as it was way to dusty with it.

Looks like you are going with a great bunch and if anyone has problems there will be lots of help, and probably a few spares. And a whole lot of wise cracks.

Randy

Hope you don't need a tank retriever

Hey Bill & Elaine,
How's the excitement level?
We just got back from eastern North Dakota, for wife's fourty something class reunion. We drove the section of MT 200 I wasn't able to report first hand before. Well now I can tell you the road is very good with no construction. I can also report that TRNP is still there, but hot and dry. We stopped in Medora for lunch. We drove the Enchanted Hiway and stopped in Regent for an ice cream, and got to visit with the creator of the road art. He told us he still has 3 more to build. It was a very nice side trip.

The excitement is definitely growing Jim. We really are itching to load up the teardrop and get on the road.

I'm sure the Enchanted Highway will be a thrill. We'll be taking pictures of each one of sculptures to show our family this unique highway art.

Thanks for checking out MT 200 for us! Hope you had a good trip through the area.

We are planning on trying out a solar camp shower while we are in TRNP since there are no showers at the campgrounds. I'm confident Elaine will be able to wash her hair...at least.

Bill,
We had a solar shower some years ago when we had our pop-up camper. We more often heater the water in a pan & poured it into the solar shower before showering, it worked OK in a pinch. A few weeks back we were over in eastern Montana to the annual Quigley Shoot and dry camped on site with about 600 other shooters. In a camp site close by us was a guy that had one of those Coleman shower systems, the one that heats the water with a propain burner and has battery pump for pressure. I'd never seen one before, but it was pretty slick. We campered there for 4 days. It was hot windy and dusty, a dust bowl kind of a weekend,a shower sure would have been nice. We made due with the spung bath routine. Might have to look into one of those Coleman units, as we do a lot of dry camping.

Hi Jim,

Hope the reunion was good for you all. We are definitely excited to get going on our trip and are now counting the days. Next week we will be packing and "making ready" the camper etc. I have been so surprised at the hot weather you are having in MT, but especially the hot weather in North Dakota. Some days it has been hotter there than here in "tropical" Maryland. We do have the humidity for sure. So we are expecting to not have to bring a heater or our electric mattress pad. Ha Ha. If you are interested in stopping by our campsite when we are in Glacier, send us a P.M. and we will set this up. If you are otherwise occupied, that is fine. We sure do appreciate all of the help and information you have given us since we started communicating. Thank you so much!!! Elaine

Hi Bill & Elaine,
This last few weeks have been pretty warm across the midwest. Our night here in northwestern Montana have still been getting down in the low sixties and mid fifties at night, so you still might like to have a jacket along as evening wear. :)
As a youngster growing up in south central North Dakota, I remember putting up hay and cultivating corn in weather just like what is occurring now, but I'm seemed to tollerate it a whole lot better back then. I think I've been spoiled by air conditioning.
We had a very nice time at the reunion.

Sent you a PM,
Jim

Hi Jim and Jean,

I just wanted to thank you again for your wonderful company and the tour of Many Glacier. We had such a great time the week we were at Glacier and we owe so much of this to you both for your recommendations and suggestions. Thanks also for the flathead cherries. They were delicious and we bought more somewhere in eastern MT along the way home. Too bad we can't get them here! Have a wonderful autumn. Can't believe it is almost Sept. Elaine
