Welcome Todd,
Yes, the madness is addictive!! Both the site and a teardrop!!!

Living in Florida I did install A/C in my galley. It will freeze you out of house and teardrop!! Don't forget the fan as well.
I installed the A/c in the galley and the only they that I wish is that it had a remote control. I have to get up and turn the A/C on and off as it gets very cold
even in our "hot" summer. I could not do without it it here.

Good luck on your research and build. As you know...we love lots of pictures :pictures: :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

Just give us a yell when you have any questions.

Nice build! Thank you for sharing.

I can't tell from your gallery images how you 'vented' and drain the AC unit. Planovet created a baffle that went down below his trailer and vents in the floor to kind of compensate for the AC unit. Did you do anything like that? Where does the condensation drain to on your design? Do you have to keep the hatch open to let air come in and out for the AC unit? Sorry for so many questions, but I am curious about your design.

I just took a look at some designs for cheap AC units; 99 bucks at Walmart for a unit that has a remote control. Seeing that I have a year to wait for the build, I will keep my eye on sales, but will for sure keep a remote in the picture.

Thanks,
TB

Hello TB,
I used a small 5000btu A/C and placed it in the galley area on the floor.
It produces very little left-over moisture so I put the a/c in a cut down buss pan from the local restaurant supply store. There is no drain.
I also built a air-channel inclosure and vented the hot air out of the hatch at the bottom. It is almost a direct shot out the back of the camper at floor level.
A remote for the A/C would be a very good idea as the interior of the camper becomes an ice box very quickly. I have to get up or try to reach the switch with my toe
throughout the night.

I hope that I was able to answer your questions.

Just give me a shout if I can help.

Rod

Hey Rod,
Thanks for the response.
Do you have any images of the vent for the hot air? I could not see them on your gallery, but I'm not sure if I am just not sure what to look at or not.

Thanks,
Todd

Todd,
The first image show the vent in the bottom of the hatch. Other images through out show the A/C in the back and the "air director" at the bottom of the galley
as well as the pan.

The picture director is at the top left and right of the photo to move through the gallery.
