Texas Teardrop First Build

Postby labradiesel » Sat Jul 28, 2012 9:24 pm

Brand newbie here from Houston saying hi to all the teardrop people out there! Check out my 1st teardrop build. Super simple design, no frills and all smiles! I'm about to add 5000BTUs of cold air to this mama-jama! It's overkill but you can't pass up $50 brand new....Peace

Welcome to the forum, labradiesel! Looks like you have a roomy TD there! Do you have any inside pics? With the Texas heat, it would seem AC would be a must.

I'm no expert, but it may be that if you resize your pictures a little smaller before posting, they may come out as whole images which are easier to view, instead of partial ones with the scroll bars... There is a sticky on this forum that will give more information. Folks on this forum LOVE pictures, and the easier to view, the better! I am converting a cargo trailer, but teardroppers and cargo trailer converters alike are always looking for ideas on how to install AC. Looking forward to seeing yours!

I had trouble with pictures too, but if you load them to your own gallery it will be easier for you to share them with us!

I like the slice of the tree on the side of your teardrop!

My only problem with the iPad camping is that I can't stream because of the lack of wifi. Do you put movies on it and then watch them when camping?

Welcome!

Cool Build! I really like the shape. Also, I have been trying to figure out how we would mount our ipad, and you just solved it for me. Thanks a ton.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for posting your video....for photos on this forum, re-size your pics to 640 x 480 and it won't blow out the screen. Doug

My bad on pic size...The slice of tree on the side is from "the ranch" last year in in Tarpley TX, the greatest place in Texas. The rest of the tree kept us warm! The Ipad mount was my daughters idea and what a great idea it was! In the morning she gets to watch movies or play games until breakfast is ready and that makes her very happy....but it also buys daddy a relaxing cup of coffee and that makes daddy very happy too.....and happy campers is all we want! Thanks for all of the replies!

So do you stream videos or are they already on the iPad?

I remember those mornings when those TV shows meant a cup of coffee for me too!

Last year it was all recorded....we loaded it up with movies and we were good for weeks. This year, my super smart phone works as a hotspot and I get good service at my favorite camping spot right next to Hondo Creek! I'm gonna have to practice control....I can lose hours watching people fire fully automatic shotguns, build tiny homes and customize their outdoor kitchen in HD on youtube! It's gonna be a good deer season!

Thanks for the love. Just sold the outrigger tent to a happy camper! I'm almost ready to take my shell off the tralier and rebuild. I want a foot wider and a foot longer. Also ill add a true teardrop hatch in the rear. I can't wait to get started!
