NO UTILITY TRAILERS ALLOWED

Postby pete42 » Fri Aug 03, 2012 9:00 pm

NO UTILITY TRAILERS ALLOWED, is what the web site for a campground near Williamsburg, Va.said?
makes me wonder what they mean by Utility trailer a cargo trailer, a flat bed trailer
I hope my new cargo trailer which I plan to add decals to plus a nice interior would fit into a toy hauler classifaction.
I guessI can see their point of view a bunch of hobos would make the place trashy but a nice new cargo trailer not so much.
anyone else run into a problem with your cargo trailers and campgrounds?

Interesting to see how enforceable that is. My camp inn is registered as a utility trailer in my state. Hardly a hobo wagon....

If it's a privately owned campground, they can enforce any rules that they please. I suppose if they posted "No Blacks" or "No Irish" they could be violating federal laws, but other than those sorts of things, if they don't want utility trailers it's their prerogative. I doubt anyone would ask to see your reg. As stated earlier, I'm sure it's to keep out the riff raff. Personally, if I pulled into a campground and was told I didn't "qualify", I'd tell the guy to pound sand and take my money elsewhere

Use some common sense. Is your teardrop a camp trailer or a utility trailer? Pete, you know better. Oh and by the way my teardrop is registered as a camp trailer in my state. It's because I knew what it was and wasn't going to settle for any other classification. :o

Pete, why don't you email them or call them and ask what they mean?

Not staying there if I ever go out that way.

I went to a campout and some where complaining how much space I took up. Well my footprint even with tongue was smaller than the 10 man 3 room tent. Guess its because mine is cooler than their tent and they are jealous

Aw, but they do accept tents. Also you having a utility trailer, you can go there GerryS with yours, it only looks like a teardrop trailer. Sure glad I live on the West Coast. They have strange rules on that other coast.

That's alright. At IRG 3.0 I put my teardrop were I was told was ok by the 'Main Man in Charge" and some dump woman complained that I was blocking her short cut to the 'pit tolet'. I was told in no uncertain tearms to move.
As a side note, I had planned on camping in her place if I had gotten up there this year.

you would have had to get there really early this year Gage...it was full up on the Meadow by the time I got there..9:45 pm on wed. evening..there were only 2 spots left, or one wide one, but I shared with the Clarkes when they arrived with their Sunhopper...

Hope you don't block the way to the bathroom at Towerfest...I'm nearly as grumpy as you can be and it might mean war...

Just kidding, of course. I'm one site closer to the head than you. It will work out. I will either put a solar light near your guy line or figure out something so Mom doesn't get tangled up in it. But I'd never ask you to move your trailer....as long as you don't ask me to move mine...then it could be war...

I think we will get along just fine. Hope to see you in Lodi. Looking forward to it. It's going to be fun..all those folks with their fancy giant trailers...me with the tear, you with the F&S, Eddie with his breadloaf...we will have a blast!

I was up above by the cook shack close to the road and pit toilet. Oh, and I had planned on being there when the gate opened Wednesday. But this year I wasn't going to stay there because of my requirement for elec. But then my doctor put the kibosh on that. Which may have been a good thing? I spent the week before the IRG in the hospital because of my condition. Keep your fingers crossed that I'm going to be able to make it to Lodi. I'm getting tired of cancelling out gatherings. :(

Note that the one camp site does not allow any RV's that don't fold down. When we were looking for a camp ground near San Jose I found one where you had to be completely self contained which we are not. They did not have bathrooms/showers. Turns out they have a serious break in problem. Big Basin Redwoods where we did end up was our favorite.
