Ted,
I love what your doing here. I noticed u had pics of your bare frame after sandblasting. Would you be able to provide me with it's exact dimensions? I'm trying to build a new frame for a benroy and don't have an original to follow.

I could realy use the length, width, tubing diameter and cross braces and axle locations. I hope it's not too much trouble.

Once again, nice job.

Thanks
Dominic

Hey Dominic,

Sure, not a problem. I'll need to crawl under the trailer and take some dimensions, but not a big deal. Give me a few days.

I know the width is 47.25". The tubing, isn't tubing - it'd 2" L channel. I'll get the rest of the info for you when I have a minute to crawl under the trailer.

Steve,

What tank is that plate for? The water tank? or the propane tank? That company on your name plate is the same company who makes the propane tank on my Benroy.

You and Real550A are pretty fortunate to have purchased trailers with complete or nearly complete kitchens/galleys. Luuuuuucky!

I keep forgetting to call and order a new hinge. :frightened:

I'll try to remember to do it tomorrow.

Cheers,
Ted

Here you go -

The length of the 'frame' is 83" long. The cross members are placed so that they form rectangles 25.25/33.75/23.75 (these measurements are taken on center of the L tab/lip from the underside) Remember this is 2" L channel steel. The L points down. (does that make sense?)

95623

95624

Hope that helps,
Ted

There's a lot to be learned studying that frame design, thanks for posting the details of it

The dimensions on the graphic are as measured. Please excuse the fact that the illustration is not to scale. ;)

Update on the actual trailer rebuild - I managed to permanently attach the interior skin for the left wall.I removed the skin, liberally applied glue to the wall, clamped the wall straight and true, and then nailed (finish nailed) the 1/4 inch interior skin in place. I went with 1/4 on the interior skins, as I felt they would hold up better to accidental bonks and kicks. Tonight I will remove the clamps and hopefully finish up the right wall.

I also finally remembered to order my hinge. :)

My plan is to try and get started on sheeting the top/interior this weekend. We'll see. With an injury to one paw, it could be difficult.

Hi Ted.
3/4" Ply with formica top.
24" wide x 19" long.

When I began reading your first line in the last update, I thought you were talking about the skin on your finger. What a relief.
Hope it hasn't interfered with lifting pints. Here's to fast healing.

Ted,
What tires are you using? My local shop suggests 205/75 R15's.
Looking for something cheap. Thx.

Ted,

Thank u soooooo much for the frame dimensions............

I have a question about the frame width of 47.25". I thought the sides were out of 1/2" ply so that would be 1.0" total wall thickness for both walls. Yet Benroy walls hide the frame side rails. So wouldn't the walls be further apart than 48" total if the frame is 47.25" wide. 47.25+1.0"=48.25" not including the clearance needed between the frame side rails and the plywood walls. I'm not sure if I'm being very clear about my question.

Hey Dominic,

No problem. The width of my frame, from outer edge to outer edge is 47 1/4". The original sides of my trailer were 3/8". 2 x 3/8 = 3/4 + 47 1/4 = 48". For my trailer, there is no clearance between the trailer sides and the frame. The sides touch the frame. There are actually 3 holes down the side where the sides appear to be 'bolted' to the frame. I was chatting with Mike via e-mail. He was saying his trailer frame for his KR is 46.5" wide. I thought the KR's were direct copies. Who knew?

Hope this helps,
Ted
