World record tow speed with a T/D, where's that post please?

Hi all, a while back I read a post on this site, about a guy who broke the land speed world record (on a salt flat), for towing something, and he just so happened to use a teardrop! Can someone please tell me where to find it, as I have a freind with a blown Chev that does 320kph, who's keen to have a crack at beating the record. He races it at nearby Lake Gairdner each year, here in South Oz. Thanks Jim.

We're talkin' about Lake Gairdner, a dead flat salt lake in the South Oz outback where speed freaks from all over the world meet once a year with their machines to try breaking a record. The most famous of them would have to be Burt Munro from NZ, a.k.a the worlds fastest indian. The guy who owns this "fuel injected suicide machine" is also a mild mannered country cop, so don't fear for the tourists....... usually, the first one at camp has to collect wood and get the fire goin' anyway, so who's hurrying? 20+ years ago we timed a Uhaul Sport Trailer towed by a Modified Roadster at 185 or 186 mph at World of Speed on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Thanks Rolly, were you an official there or something? We just wanna know what the record is, to find out if his car is capable of beating it. I haven't even seen the car yet, but it does 200mph. It would be awesome if it was my van in tow and he managed to do it. Great publicity! Mind you, I do have to finish building one first!

It was at a USFRA event. I don't remember if I was helping with a car or working the event, probably some of both. The run would have been logged with the roadster's number. I will be out at Speedweek a couple of days next week I will try to remember to ask some other people who were there then. Feel free to remind me, or PM me.
