yeah the used bird is kinda new to me as well but I heard of used dogs so I thought it fit....Thanks Louella I'm hopefully getting two of them so it should make camping very interesting

Not meaning to get away from the dogs  , it seems there are still some Non -believers circulating among the Foamie ranks ... :o If anybody has had any problems related to Foamie construction , please let us know here ... Thanks !!!

really, non believers? i guess i have missed some things.

i know that this stuff can warp, just like wood. my one door has warped. but it was never meant to be a door in the first place. so it has no frame or anything. and i have had delamination with my canvas from the foam. still waterproof and still 100% campable (just not really pretty). so those are my two problems.
now if i had build a proper door, i would think that warping would not have happened, as my other door is fine. and the delamination i do suspect is due to my using a cinch strap and squeezing in my foam, causing the canvas to seperate. as i seem to be the only one that uses this, i don't see that as a problem on the other builds.

Eagle , the foam warping could be due to the skins ... :o Uneven shrinkage rates putting Tension on one side or the other ... My guess is the door is cupped toward the outside , where the skin material is exposed to sunlight ...is that right ?

yes, it bends out, so it doesn't close really.

i put primer on, but thats it. the outside had primer and paint. now though the inside has some of the poly/fabric added to it. i feel like maybe i should take that door off and get something heavy to set on it..maybe i could get it back to shape? is that possible? acutally i should just build a proper, real door for it and just stop fussing with this piece that was never meant to be a door.

cooler weather is approaching, so i am getting ready for some more work on the new foamie. but first things first: school clothes, then fencing for the dogs new run, (i am fencing in a small field for them to run loose in and do some agility in). i am sure there are many other things on the list, but i am going to get some stuff for this new foamie soon.

Just thinking ... it appears the Latex shrinks a bit when drying , the poly not so much so .... I was going to suggest a couple coats of Latex on the back of that door and it would “walk” back into shape ... but since you have the poly on already ... too late for that ... But I see you have Enough to keep you Busy !!! Never a dull moment !!!

I had some experiences gluing printed computer paper to 1/4” FFF (fan fold foam) and if I didn’t do both sides , it would warp like Crazy ... :o here’s an example ...

Hot and dry here. A fire about 10 miles from me ( closest edge ) has burned 100,000+ acres since Monday. Yup, bet you have not heard about it. Yesterday I went out to see it. and saw 2 4 engine airplane dump retardant on it. Growers on the edge of it lighting back fires along the edge of their dry grain fields.

Some Idaho fires

The one nearest me is the Flat Top 2. It is burning an area I was in last May. No biggy it burns every 10-15 years or so.
