Pudgie Pie Fillings

Postby Hillmann » Fri Aug 17, 2012 11:05 am

I picked up two pudgie pie makers at a flee market on Monday. I plan on having a fire this weekend to show the kids how they work, can anyone suggest good kid friendly fillings?

I plan on doing ham and cheese for the meal and for dessert cherry pie filling. I am also thinking of experimenting with marshmallows and chocolate and with PB&J but don't know how well the peanut butter will hold up to the heat.

The PB & J may have to be a quick in & out, or with the fire almost cold. Peanut butter liquefies quickly in heat. I have a sandwich maker at home that I use just for that, and I've found that the temperature of the bread gives little indication as to the temperature of the PB, and I've burned my tongue on ooey gooey lava-like goodness more than once. I don't know if your situation might be the same.

As far as stuffings, I say pepperoni and cheese, sausage and egg, bacon burger (hamburger, bacon bits, cheese, and topped with catsup and mustard)... Now I'm hungry. Where's that sandwich maker?

Chicken Parmesan Sandwhich

2 slices of butttered bread, pizza sauce, mozzeralla cheese. (can add onions and bell peppers if want)

butterd bread with buttered sude down + pizza sauce + chicken patty + (onion & bell peppers, if wanted) + Cheese + pizza sauce + buttered bread with butterer side on top, close the sandwhich maker/pie iron and cook until both sides or golden. Of course the pie iron will need to be rotated at least once.
