New Guy from East TN

I guess I should follow protocol and introduce myself...

Hopefully this time on Saturday I will be busy crawling all over my new Micro-lite cargo-lite Xtreme with my normal OCD way of investigating anything I buy. But I digress here is my introduction (sorry if it is long).

I have been a camper and motorcycle rider since I was 14 and I have not seen that birthday in many many years... My normal however all these years is camping from a motorcycle and going to the bush. Well 28 years ago I married the the finest woman on earth. She is still to this day my best friend and never fails to make me smile. Her eyes after all of these years still makes me melt. We together have raised 3 great boys but the last one graduates high school this year. She has been the corner stone of our family and now it is time for us to have more time together. A chance for her to see those things I have seen but not from the back of a motorcycle (she does not ride).

When the kids were young she did the right thing and camped in a tent, was cold, hot, wet as needed as her 4 men played in the woods. When they got older we stopped because she would say, I dont want to sleep on the ground with the snakes. As a compromise I showed her this smaller trailer and my plans where we would have most of the comforts of home (no snakes) but I still could bring a bike to satisfy my wild side. I hopefully will show her things she has not seen and cannot be seen from a plane and a hotel.

My hope is that we will go to mexico to see the sunset in Baja (done that) or camp in the keys to watch the sunrise (done that), to sleep by a mountain stream and listen to it rush over the rocks (done that), or go to NB Canada and walk from the campground to a quaint place in ST. Martins on the beach for the best lobster you can put in your mouth at any meal (done that). I want to share with her my old memories from riding (she lets me take a big trip every two years on the bike).

I want our us future years to be spent together, sitting under an awning, holding hands and laughing about the good times we have had in the last 28 years and how much fun we will have in the next 28.

While that may seem sappy that is my story and I am sticking too it...

Welcome Coop to the forum from a neighbor down in GA! I enjoyed your introduction and the insight as to why your doing what your doing to your new cargo trailer. My better half is in the same boat as yours towards camping in the past but loves the small tear we have and the new one I'm in the process of building. If you like camping with a great group of people then you'll find them here and on the Tearjerkers site. Tennesse chapter of Tearjerkers is a great group of people to camp with and alot of them are also riders. Well welcome again to the madness and I hope you find all the ideas and any help you may need from the forum!

Cliff
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!

Welcome to the forum. You forgot sitting on the shore of Lake Superior or many of the other areas up north. We completed a month long trip this summer out to California and next year we will be heading to camp North of Lake Superior and canoe many of the lakes. We tent camped for 30+ years and love having the teardrop and convenience.

Now for the serious digging for suggestions is on. I assume those questions should be in the right forum however.

I look forward to learning tons from this community of like minded adventures...

It should be a good year for leaf peeping. We have had lots of rain and pretty much a mild summer. When it turns to real fall weather if we get some real good cold snaps the colors should be fantastic.

A good camping area that is close to things but overlooked is the Look Rock Campground. Part of national park system i think it is like 14 bucks a night.

Coop74,
Very nice trailer. Did you travel very far to purchase it?
Check out the Tennesse Voluntears chapter on Tearjerkers. net.
We are having a gathering at Lake Norris State park the weekend after
Labor Day, September 6th through the 9th.
Living today and planning for tomorrow.
TnT in Tennessee.

Thanks ... a huge step up from my tent and the bike no doubt. I will look into the TN club when I get the chance. I like meeting like minded people.

where is that camp ground located? I generally stay in the Gatlinburg area.
