Teardropping & Geocaching, what a perfect combo. I will be using my teardrop to go Geocaching in weekends. I will be able to go out of town & have a place to sleep.

Different strokes for different folks. I am not a fan of running around the countryside looking for hidden parcels. But, Hey, if it does it for you why not. I could think of worse ways for using your TD. For example.........err..............give us a minute....................then you could...................................ummmmmmmmmmmm................................................................................. nope, that would be the lowpoint for me. :lol:

I think that's a great idea. Do you currently geocash? If so where's a good site to get more info? I've heard the basics but that's all. I have a laptop and GPS unit that I used on a trip last year and I had actually had fun using it to find the 20 locations in Oklahoma I visited. Thanks.

I tried geocacaching... after the first few finds it got boring... I guess there's other things I'd rather be doing...

Gee, my dad was an FBI agent...

And he used to follow people seeing where they left packages in hidden locations for others to find or were picking up stuff left in hidden places...

In other words, my dad was catching spies!

I thought about geocaching, but given the concern about terrorism, I steered clear of that hobby - based on my dad's stories (those he could tell me).

We started Geocaching last spring, and it has taken us to some great hiking areas that we never would have found had it not been for the cache. I've found great places within 5 miles of my home of the last 20 years that I never knew existed! Odie doesn't really care for the "urban" caches, but enjoys the hikes. I like them all, and drive her crazy in my quest for finds.

I like hiking and thought about geocaching, but looking for an ammo box with kid toys in it just didn't appeal to me. A more adventuresome idea would be to look for "loot" with a metal detector where some old bank robbers might have camped. I'm down in El Paso, so there are a few areas like that in the area.

Regarding Terrorism. Someone found a geocache sticking out of the ground in a California state park somewhere last year and called the authoroities. The authorities came in a blew it in place not knowing what it was. It's kind of funny if you think about it.

I have a 6 year old & a 9 year old. They love it, they get to be sneaky like a spy. It is a fun, FREE, family activity.

We started last year when my wife received a GPS for her birthday from her dad. So far we have found 10 or so. There are hundreds in my area.

I was thinking it would be fun to take one of the kids & head out on a Friday, geocache, find a place to fish, sleep in the tear, fish for the day, sleep in the tear, & go home on Sunday. You could have a fun weekend for almost no money. (except gas

)

Did seven caches this weekend. Had to break out the snowshoes for the last one. A nice hike of about 2 miles round trip.

My better half & I love it! I need to get out more andlooking for a cache is a perfect way to discover places you would not normally go. I find its a reason to enjoy the hikes I use to dislike. A cheap hand held GPS and a 6 year old grandson and life is good :thumbsup:

What have you done??!!!! My 13 year old and I have looked at the web site. It sounds like lots of fun to us!! We are going to have to try this out. Found out there is a cache just 4 miles from our home. And we live out in the boonies. Closest town (1400 people) has one also. Who would have thunk it?
