That's a tough question with a dozen answers. Why not just keep it 5' wide on the inside so you can have a standard size queen size mattress? If you want to go 5' on the outside, but have your sidewalls cover the frame, then either need to shorten the frame cross members based on the thickness of your outside walls, or build with the outside face of the side walls resting even with the edges of your frame, and then do some sort of skirting to hide the frame. You might want to check out the wall attachment thread (

Which Northern Tool 5x8 are you using? They have a bolt-together kit, and a welded trailer.
If you are using the welded trailer, people have modified the tongue by adding steel diagonally from the coupler to create an A-frame.
