Newbies in Twin Falls Idaho

Postby lee senn » Wed Aug 15, 2012 12:03 pm

My wife and I are long time lurkers on this forum going back to about 1998. I got enthused about tears along about then and began planning for our build, Even had a trailer frame custom built and then life got in the way. We have hauled the frame around for all those years (including a move from Santa Fe New Mexico to Twin Falls Idaho ). In that time we have camped in everything imaginable from fifth wheels to bumper pulls to A frames ( similar to the Aliners )to recently a 13 foot Uhaul and currently an 18 foot Trillium and now maybe I will finally use that frame and get our build done. We will be going to the gathering near Pinedale Wyoming this weekend to see all the teardrops there, meet the folks and get some ideas and advice on finally getting started. Lee and Norma

Hi Lee and Norma, welcome to the best trailer forum on the net. Ah yes, Twin Falls, I remember it well. While driving through your town a year or so ago, I noticed some daring parachute jumpers, diving off of the huge bridge and into the canyon far below. Wow, I went over to see them pack their chutes and asked if it were true that I would actually be allowed to jump off of the bridge, without a chute. The answer was: "Sure you can, but you can only do it once!" The Snake River is sure beautiful in Twin Falls.

Building a teardrop is quite an experience, and if you need any pointers, be sure to ask questions on this board. We are here to help, and many have been right where you are today. All you have to do now is decide, how long, how wide, how high, what shape, what material, color, amount of cabinets, kind of mattress, galley appointments, size of wheels and choice of fenders. Hey, nothing to it, planning is half of the fun. Good luck on your build, (pics, pics).

Roly Thanks for the welcome. I may well call on you for advice. I have about got the profile set in my mind ( very similar to Chips Pickle Inn ). Per the intro I already have the frame so will begin soon. There is a slight problem for me and paragliding off the Perrine bridge. I am sure you saw the little platform they use for their jumps ... well you can't get enough people on that little platform to throw me off !!! Lee and Norma

Welcome Lee & Norma.
Good Luck with your build.
I hope you have as much fun with it as I have had over this past year.
Don't delay or procrastinate!
We have missed most of this years camping season and half of our holidays because our tear has taken much longer than anticipated.
Good Roads
