Newbie in B-More

Hello All!
My husband and I have caught the bug. We were in Hood River for a while this summer and saw T&TT all over the place! We have decided, with the help of some disastrous camping trips in the last couple of years, that we are ready to sleep in a solid structure and not in a tent. So, the husband is the real artist here. He has all the necessary skills to complete this project, and the dog and I are here to buy stuff and lay things out, and hold stuff in place while he levels and attaches things. (That isn't entirely true, I am a firefighter/paramedic turned therapist, but I am still handy with power tools.)

I have so enjoyed reading the HUGE wealth of knowledge here, and look forward to making some good friends both online and at gatherings. We are hoping to build over the fall and be done in time for camping out at Christmas. After that, we are looking into a cross country trip next year so we will be eagerly looking at the Tearjerker Gatherings, and anyone else who might want to meet up!

You can expect some really basic questions from me, some semi-decent pictures of our build, some great food, and many funny stories of being in the fire service. From my hubby you can expect intensely technical questions including part numbers, equations, voltage, and how to hack things.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi Lauren & Rob,

Welcome to the forum and to the addiction. I am also in the Baltimore area, in Essex. I've been building on my teardrop for about a year, am currently doing the hatch. You're welcome to have a look if you ever think it will help.

Be sure and start a build thread when you get going, plenty of pictures please. We love them and we all learn from them.

If you haven't already, check out the Tearjerker's site also. The Chesapeake Bay chapter is a really nice group of folks and they really know how to have a good time. they are having a gathering at Patapsco State Park the weekend of September 28th, so that would give you a good opportunity to meet some of the gang and look at some teardrops. you don't need to camp, just drop by. I went to one of their gatherings before I started building my teardrop. They were so warm and welcoming and have been my biggest cheerleaders ever since. We can't wait to get our camper done so we can start joining them.

There is a camping trip scheduled at Patapsco State Park on 28 Sept-30 Sept.. You could get a good look and meet some people if you stop in and say HI! There are 10+- sites with teardrops to investigate! A couple of people are going to be there on the 27th after 3pm (check in time).

I had the date of the Patapsco gathering wrong on my last post. I said the weekend of the 22nd of Sept. It should have been the 28th. I have corrected it. Sorry for giving bad information.

Thanks Sue and The Other Side,

I appreciate the warm welcome and the invitation to join you guys to meet the group and check out some of the existing builds. Rob and I got married at Patapsco State Park 2 years ago this October, so we are always happy to head back there for a visit.

Sue, I have read your entire build journal and am so excited to see your td, and pick your brain. Fiberglassing, or more specific, the idea of fiberglassing, gives me heartburn. I am so excited to find someone who is experienced with it, to hopefully hold my hand thru that process when we get to that point. Course, first I have to find a frame on craigslist! (oh, and a garage to rent so we can build it! :worship: )

Sue, if the offer stands to come and see the build, and happily lend a hand if needed, I would love to take you up on it. And at the least, I hope to see the it at the Patapsco camp-out!

Thanks,
Lauren
