Do you feel claustrophobic in that?

Postby Bill and Elaine » Sun Sep 02, 2012 1:05 pm

When you own a teardrop, you've heard that question. If you had this "teardrop" you might have to say yes.

Hear it all the time. We have a lot of windows in ours, that, I think, eliminates the problem.

I find it cozy more than anything.

Yeah Bill that one would make me a lil , shoot thats the last thing I want to "sleep" in at this time :R. My lil tear that was the biggest question we had, even the wife until she got in and tried it and then she was hooked. When ever people ask I just let them get in and they usually say" There's more room than we thought in here".

Ours is a grasshopper design with a fairly large interior and with large windows. Nancy is a bit claustrophobic and does not have a problem with ours.

Since I was building a 4 wide I built my cabinets so they only invaded my space by a few inches to lessen a closed in feeling. I also have lots of light and large windows. Definitely doesn't feel claustrophobic.

When asked that question with my 3x3 teardrop levitating behind me, I simply tell them No, since I have been taking octogenarian yoga lessons for a number of months and I am now painfully capable of placing my knees up next to my ears for at least 8 hours. That usually gets a laugh, and then I have to go through the whole show-and-tell thing, which I never tire of. Lets see, would a 2ft x 2ft Standy, elicit even more un-answerable questions? Great, I think I'll build one.

Often the first question we're asked is, "Do you sleep in it?"

Which is followed by "It cranks up, doesn't it?"

Then comes the inevitable..."Do you feel claustrophobic in that?"

Just as others have commented, by the time the third question has been asked, we've already unlocked the doors and opened the galley for the tour.

People are amazed, aren't they?

I thought i would too and having been in a little guy i can see how somepeople might. but with the loft in mine it makes a large space it really does.

Jennies mom the first time she saw it asked if Jennie and I can sleep in there. I said yes its quite roomy. are you sure Jennie is a big girl (sometime mother in law does not engage brain before mouth) no issue its a queen size mattress. are you sure i mean those doors are small and jennie is well.......at this point i was getting frustratraed irratated and a few other things and since she was not ingaging brain i said does it really matter Jennie is going to be na**d and on top of me. She didtn get it for three hours.

And let us not forget Abby sleeps in one of those and Gibbs doesnt mind although Tim didnt know it was a coffin.

Abby does sleep in a coffin. I forgot all about that. Guess that about makes her a tear dropper. :D

We're NCIS fans too. Can't wait for the new season.

THANKS for the NCIS reference! Laughed like crazy. And didn't she get Tim in there a couple times? Talk about lack of oxygen!

Cliff-It looks like Abby and the entire NCIS team would fit confortably in your beautiful teardrop. Nice job on the build. I enjoyed your detailed build journal.
