Well, I for one, don't want to be "fairly safe" or choose a "perhaps guarded" truck stop for an overnighter. When I traveled 8 years, full time in my motorhome, my trusty Smith and Wesson 38 was right under my pillow, and I slept like a log. However, the 1/8th inch plywood sides and even thinner plexiglass windows in my teardrop, would offer absolutely no protection from the drugged out bum that busts in while I am only inches away.

Nope, no Walmarts or between-the-noisy-semi's for me. I try to find an out-of-town, small, privately owned campground, and if I am told that they are all filled up, I simply ask them "if the President of the United States were to pull in, would you have a place for him"? If they answer Yes, I tell them that the "Anointed One" is out golfing and won't be stopping by, and I'll just take the place he would have used.....and by the way, I will pay cash, and won't require a reciept, thank you very much. This has worked a number of times during my 30,000 miles of cross-country teardropping, and a spot between the dumpster and horse shoe pits is just fine, since no hookups are needed.
8) :?  Roly, the li'l ol' So Calif woody TD guy, (who's not wanting to shoot holes in my TD side walls)
