how about a 7 wide teardrop for slow?

you could make the actual box of the trailer 5' wide and use the extra width for some side decks (place for the dogs to sleep porta poti, etc.) measure the width of your TV. I wouldn't want a tear any wider than my TV or I would have to use towing mirrors to pull it. Plenty of serious off road campers have a side deck that flares out to the width of the fender to protect it, it would also give you a place to sit out side, or a place to strap on bikes, water jugs etc.

My td is one inch less than a "real" queen mattress inside, full length bed, and 4' high from the floor to the top of the roof. Right now with no inner roof I can kneel on the bed while changing. I'm 5' 10" tall, my 5' 2" wife has enough room to do her Pilates inside, which is how she looks so good after 4 kids.

Slow,

Seven wide can open some other interesting possibilites.

As stated a queen size mattress is 60" wide by 80" long. A tear that is seven wide is 84" which should be enough to turn most mattresses to a side to side orietation instead of the usual front back orietation. Some people feel confined with the galley over their feet. Side to side could make the interior feel more open.

A second advantage is that now your feet are no longer under the galley giving you the ability to use storage all the way to the floor. Possibilities for a more usable galley become greater.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this tear takes shape.

Angie,

I built a portable privacy room with pvc and attached it with bungie cords to the roof rack on my Teardrop and put my portapotty there. If my memory is correct, I think the room was 4'x5', 4' from Teardrop to outside corner and 5' across. I bought some blue denim type material and sewed it for the walls, weighting down the bottom later on when I learned the hard way that the wind will having you mooning your neighbors!

I never had a smelly problem. I used several different things, depending on what I felt like bringing with me. One was sawdust that I got from work; another was some packets of whatchamacallit from Camping World; the other was cat litter. All worked just fine. I used drawstring garbage bags and always had at least 6 lining the potty at one time - not for leak purposes but just being lazy. Bundle up the wasted one and the other one is already in place.

Before I built the privacy room, I had (still do) a double potty room I bought from Cabela's and it works great too! One side you can use as a shower/dressing room and the other for the potty. If you are set on having your potty away from your camper, that might be your best solution. I liked having my privacy room attached so I could dress/undress right next to my camper. I never had a problem with anyone opening the side and peek in. It was easy to set up and take down too.

I know whatever y'all build will be well thought out. There are so many people on this forum with beautiful Teardrops and wonderful ideas. Good luck!
