I put a removable tongue on our teardrop. Any weld shop can do this for you. It makes it that much harder to steal without anything to connect to.

I bought a hmmm The Claw I think.(Makes me think of Jim Carrey in "Liar, Liar") By The Club. With us it's the question of....do you want to do NOTHING, or at least make it a little tougher and not simply give it away. We can slap it on to go in for lunch or use in the campground or even our "relatively" safe driveway.

If they want it badly enough they will get it, and all you can do is slow them down and make it really obvious. And ANYTHING you can get a bolt cutter on is toast.

I lock things up mostly just so things don't accidentally open up in transit. Considering how easy it would be to rip a door off a camper to get at the goodies inside, nothing is truly secure inside anyhow. In my limited experience with break-ins, I have noticed that cost of the damage caused by the break-in is usually greater than what's stolen. Keep your insurance up to date, and just accept the fact that one's trailer is probably most vulnerable in your back yard or in a motel parking lot.

I have removable tongues on both of my TDs and I store them in the trunk of the car when I am away. This works for me, and I would be very surprised if anyone would show up with a matching tongue to thwart my efforts.

While I think it is true that for the most part folks do look out for each other at gatherings there was a complete failure at IRG and the damage done to Sharon's trailer by another attendee(s) who from the list knew how to inflict the maximum of overt and subtle damage. Folks like this often leave a trail and court records are public!
This also does not take into account the occasions when we are not part of a gathering, I would hazard a guess the vast majority of our camping experience.
You can only do so much and if you are paranoid you will be frozen and not do anything.
