I am heading to get a 6 by 10 V-nose tomorrow

Postby Marine » Mon Sep 03, 2012 7:01 pm

Hello everyone, I travel a lot and teach safety classes, I have ordered a trailer v nose 6 by 10 v nose with a rv side door. You all have been an encouragement and I hope I can add something as I transform my trailer into something that can serve . I will be pulling it with my 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

I spent last night in the new "rolling man cave" as my wife calls it. I had to take a road trip 400 miles away and I have discussed this trailer with a good friend. He is also a great welder and I wanted to discuss some modifications that would require him to "poke lightning." He knew I wanted to crash in my trailer so he left me an extension cord hot and juiced up for my 1:30 AM arrival.

It was an enlightening and enjoyable experience. I am installing a fold down bed. But for this trip I decided that my full size electrical blow up mattress would suffice. Here is what I found out.

55 degrees is good camping weather for a trailer, but it gets a little chilly, sleeping bags do need to be zipped up.

Stabilizers are a must. My friend taught me a trick that uses jack stands for the rear and the tongue jack for the front. Very effective.

Nature calls sometimes require more capacity than you initially thought.

This trailer plan is definitely a good idea. It is going to be hard to find a more comfortable sleeping system.

I spent most of this evening insulating the roof and the drivers side of the trailer. Re assembly of the drivers side wood is complete.

My recently married nephew resides in the town that I am visiting for a few days, he is good with a paintbrush and handy with paneling etc. So I have hired him to help me with some of the projects like sealing the floor and paneling the ceiling etc. sorry no pictures but the inside was standard OSB and Well built.

I have a plan for a shower that I am working on. Will be posting photos son now that I have figured out how to do so,

Looking forward to seeing your progress, especially interested in your shower plans. I'm at the same point myself, will need to frame in the bathroom/shower area soon, but not quite sure how to ensure against leaks. Your trailer looks a lot like ours, only a little shorter. Trying to figure out a way to best use that odd space in the V-nose is proving to be a challenge.

For a low-tech solution to nature calls, we got this: http://beprepared.com/product.asp_Q_pn_ ... at+%26+Lid

It's light and portable, and on sale right now. :-)

We paired it with an outdoor privy/shower tent for our trip this summer, but ended up so close to the restrooms at the campground that we never needed to use it.

John: Nice trailer and tow.

Robin: I used the "V" to make a perfect toilet room.

Hope that helps your ideas.
