So sorry to hear about your crash and I hope surgery will not be necessary. Please be sure and let us know what you find out from the MRI. I will be saying a prayer for your quick recovery.

Your teardrop is looking great. The cabinets came out beautiful. You're really getting close now!!

Well bummer. The Dr called yesterday and confirmed that I have torn 2 tendons on my right rotator cuff. He's trying to get me scheduled in the next week or so. The trailer will be on hold for a bit, like 3-6 months (or longer) while I recover/rehab.

That just stinks to high heavens!! I hope you won't be out of commission as long as that, but +1 on doing what the doc says. The trailer will wait, but you only get 2 shoulders.
Take good care of yourselves and please keep us up to date on how things are going.

This will probably be the last update until after my surgery and recovery. So much for being Superman. I have certainly proven that I no longer bounce, things now break. Like Becky said "The trailer will wait, but you only get 2 shoulders". I'll be following all the doctors orders. I want to make a full recovery so I can get back to having fun.

My buddy came over earlier this week and trimmed the edges of the roof for us. Cynthia is going to set, fill and sand the nail holes in the roof while I'm recovering. She might even get the stain and varnish done. I've been told that I can be a little needy and whiny when I don't feel good. So it'll be a nice break for her from playing nurse.

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers.

Wow, the teardrop looks GREAT!!! And who knows, she might get a lot more done than you think (depending on how much whining and needing you decide to do.... ;) )

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery!!

Man, so close to finished, too. :x

But hey, take care of yourself first, and if they give you PT do it religiously and diligently. Do not settle for, "Oh well, I guess that's about as good as it will get."

My wife is the poster child for doing her PT and has proved time and again that the payback is there if you do the time and put in the effort to follow your therapist's instructions.

A speedy and full recovery to you, sir. :worship:

Just wanted say a quick thanks to everyone for your help and encouragement with our teardrop. Don't worry we've come way too far to give up now. Things will just be moving at a much slower pace for a while.

Rotator Cuff Surgery went well though the Dr said it was a difficult repair. Today hasn't been too bad, but had a nerve block. I expect the real fun to start tomorrow when it wears off. I'm being told no driving or work for at least 2 weeks and to plan on closer to 6 month PT/recovery time. Going to be a fun winter, but we are praying for a full recovery. :worship:

Take care

It sounds like lots of movies and card games may be the winter activities for you! Six months, huh?
So, March will probably be a good time to start back on the trailer to finish in time for summer camp trips! ;)
Take care and get well soon!

Re: Steve & Cynthia's Teardrop Update: 9/19/2012

Postby PSBreen » Wed Sep 19, 2012 11:13 pm

I've only been down a few days and I'm already going stir crazy. To make it worse today was our 32nd anniversary. Even though I couldn't cut my steak with one hand we had a good time at lunch. Cynthia wanted to work on the trailer so she let me supervise from a chair. :D

Image
Cynthia working hard to make some progress while I recuperate. Today was punching the nails down below the surface...harder than it sounds. She only whacked her hand a couple of times. OUCH!

Image
She got them all filled in. Tomorrow...it's on to sanding. With any luck she won't have to touch up any with more putty. Maybe she'll get a coat of stain on. The jury is still out on whether or not I'll let her use my power tools to start on the back hatch.

I don't think she liked staining any more than sanding. I kept hearing her mumble " Wax on, wax off".

Image
The stained top matched up great with the sides. We'll wait a few days to make sure it's good and dry then start coating it with varnish.
