Hello fellow teardrop lovers!

My name is Keith and I live near Palmer, Alaska. I recently completed my first teardrop trailer and launched it on its maiden voyage. Although I've been a tnttt member for a few years now, this is my first post.

Although this site contains several examples of first-rate craftmanship, Juneau Dave's SlumberMax has long been my favorite. Dave, I hope you'll consider it flattery that I borrowed heavily from some of your design features. My own design took three years to make road-worthy and may never be "complete". So far, it's been quite a journey.

I look forward to getting to know many of you and, perhaps someday, attend a rally or two.

Keith

Looks classic and very nice. I certainly identify with the "may never be finished".

Congratulations Kieth!!! Your trailer turned out beautiful!!! It just seems that the builds and builders keep getting better and better. I'm pretty sure your trailer will now serve as an inspiration to the next set of builders! Be sure and share some more pics! Welcome to the forum!...Dave

Thank you, Dave. Coming from you, that means alot to me. I studied your build journals extensively before cutting my first piece of cedar. I thought it an odd coincidence that we both relied heavily on our Shopsmiths to get the job done. I have two - an updated 510 model and a "chopped" version which I use for permanent station mounts.

My wife and I have a "dream" road trip in mind that goes something like this: Palmer - Whittier, ferry to Cordova, Juneau, Haines - Haines Jct - Tok - Palmer. During our stopover in Juneau, would you mind if we stopped by for a quick look at the SlumberMax? That would be a special treat for me, not to mention a great photo op.

Thank you for your invaluable contributions to this forum and especially for your countless encouragements to those of us who have been bitten by the teardrop bug.

Best regards,

Kurley

Look great to me. What is the roof made out of, and is it painted?

The roof itself is typical frame construction covered by 3/32" mahogany plywood. To weatherproof the trailer, I covered the roof from front to back with a single continuous sheet of rubber. The outermost covering is marine grade vinyl.
