PopUp Changing Room/Potti Room

Postby JuneBug » Fri Sep 14, 2012 8:36 am

Came across the Popodthis morning -- they can be used for changing rooms or a potti room, if you are so inclined. Comes in royal blue or red & the instructional video showing exactly how to fold it up is awesome. Easy up and easy down. Thinking about ordering one; we don't have a teardrop (yet) but are van camping when we go to mountain bike races, so many similarities to what is needed in the campground.

Bass pro sells one under their name as well. I picked it up last year. It does work great.

We used one similar (a pop-up hunting blind) for a few years after we built our TD, 'til we bought the shower/potti/changing shelter by TexSport in 2008. When our oldest grandaughter was pregnant with her first child she wasn't able to use her climbing tree stand for deer hunting. Her Dad (our son) bought the pop-up blind for her but after the baby came she didn't want to use it anymore so she said 'Granny' could use as a changing room/potti shelter. Worked admirably for that purpose but isn't strong enough to hold a portable shower so we purchased the stronger built (& harder to erect) TexSport so we could use the solar shower bags when boondocking. The little pop-up shelter is great for quick'n easy shelter if ya don't need a lot of strength...

In this pic you can just see the 'pop-up' shelter on far side of the TD. This was at the first LCG in 2006 -

This is the 'new' TexSport shelter that replaced the 'pop-up' - Much more roomy & strong enough to hang a solar shower bag

Those little toss and go tents are kinda neat but as Harvey said they don't hold a lot of weight as a shower tent.

I got lucky and stumbler over a little 4x4 first up ( $15.00 at a yard sale :D ).

Yes the frame is a bit heavy but I really like the extra elbow room. I can use the side curtains off of the bigger 10 x 10 or the privacy curtains off of Chubby ( 2 matching shower curtain dress panels )

I like that little one Bob. Smallest I've seen is a 8x8. Gotta keep my eyes open for one the size of yours. I really like out TexSport but it takes me 15-20min to set it up, & if weather is hot I need that shower then

I have the Cabela's version of the pop up and I love it. It has a zipper up high on one side so you can hang a solar shower from a tree or your canopy. The floor is removable so you can use it if you like. It's roomier than it appears.
I've never seen a 4x4 canopy like Bob's, it is way cool.

I especially like the instructional video in the link for the popup. I have the same thing only a different brand and can never remember how to fold it.

I have been using Outback Porta Privy for 3 yrs... up and down in seconds. great!
Made all the difference for my wife for changing and middle of night potty breaks.

I have findly made myself a shower/changing room. (Mostly changing room as most campgrounds I go to has a shower.) Tried it out this last weekend at Calaveras Big Trees and did fine. I took my granddaughter with me she had a blast. She is 5. We camped with a few people. One family mother and 3 boys (The husband does not like to camp) and the other father and one son. My granddaughter seemed to bond with the 3 boys and kept right up with them even though she is alot smaller and younger. Their mom figured its because she is not really girly girly. But she kind of is but she is also pretty tough. She gets along with the other boy but he is a little more reserved. She did have all the boys pretend to cook with her. There was a stump that had a hole in the middle that she used as a bowl. She would stir what ever she was pretending to make. The boys would bring her what ever she decided that she needed. Rocks, twigs leaves. It was cute how they were humoring her. She went on an hour and a half hike and she did ok. She wanted to go back to the campsite about half way through, but I told her it would take us just as long to go back as to finish the hike, so she hiked on with out any complaints.

sounds like me when I was trying to remember how to fold an industrial size band saw blade with out cutting myself.
one old timer showed me how to hold and twist and fold sure is simple once learned.

In the past 50+ years I have never had an external porta-potty even when we tent camped back then we were young
and didn't have the middle of the night need for a porta-potty; now it seems hourly isn't enought ahh the fun of growing old. :(

I have one of those, it did not come with instructions. I couldn't figure out how to fold it back into its case. Thankfully, some time spent on Google brought me to a how-to video on YouTube.

We have had 2 different changing room/potty rooms. The first was the Texsport one that I ordered online from Walmart. It was heavy and had so many parts. The floor was detactable and it took a long time to assemble and take down. It went back for a refund, pronto! The second one is from Bass Pro, cheaper and very quick to pop up. Also has a detachable floor. It has plenty of room in it for a functioning dressing room or potty. Very glad for the exchange. I would buy the Bass Pro one again.
