New girl from Quebec, Canade

Postby Quebecgirl » Thu Sep 13, 2012 6:31 pm

I have been looking around on this forum for a little while now and I figured I should introduce myself...

Ok, so here it goes...

I am new on this forum, but not with the teardrop world. I built my first teardrop about 8 year ago after a very windy tent camping trip... My first idea was to buy an old TTT and fix it, I had my eyes on a Boler, but even very damaged ones were still too expensive for me.

One day, reading a woodworking magazin I saw an add for some Teardrop plans... I was sold... Started searching the internet, collecting pictures and informations on builds... 2 years later, my 4 x 8 woody was ready. We used it since then...

But now, after we got our dog, seems that the 4 x 6 sleeping area is not big enough anymore... He might be under 20 pounds, he still needs half the bed for himself...

I was given an old popup, and started taking it apart. I plan on reusing frame, fridg, stove, water pump, water tank, sink, faucet, converter and maybe the heater too...
The frame is 76" wide and 94" long (over the bumper) i will extend it to 11' long and keep the width as it is. Here is my wish list:
Full size bed
Room for a porta potty (we are not getting younger...)
Room for the dog's bed (so if he doesn't let use the full size bed, we will have somewhere to sleep...)
Galley kitchen in the back (that's my favorite part of my teardrop) including 3 burner stove, 3 way fridge, sink with running water and lots of storage
Insulated walls, floor and roof
Fan-tastic fan.

I am not gonna start the actual build before next spring, so it leaves me with all winter to plan and to dream...
Hopefully I will be done striping out the old popup before the snow comes and maybe have it cleaned and paint...

So that's what I have for you guys so far, I will post some pictures of my first built soon (I know you love the pics!!) and tried to keep you posted on the new project...

Thanks in advance for all the help I will get from you all, and for the help I'm already getting by reading this forum...

Welcome to the forum.

Sound like you got a good set of ideal in mind. I know I have seen at least two TD on this sight that had a
raised platform bed for the peoples dog. There’s a lot of good ideal here in the Build Journals area.

GL and let see that first TD.

Here are some pictures of my first TD, I did take a lot of it, but I must have misplaced them because all I can find is the ones I selected to build a powerpoint to show to friends and family...

I know I seen two more with dogs in there own bed, but I can’t remember where I saw them.
The TD in your gallery looks nice. I’m sure you’ll be able to create one that fits your needs.

Welcome from Ontario. We built ours from a pop up frame and would easily have room for a dog but I would not be able to install a porta potti. Ours is 8 feet by 6ft.
