Tired of phone redirects

This may help some of you out. If you are tired of hearing 'If you know your parties extension press xx now' Try this site before you call customer service or support numbers. If the place you are calling is on it it may just save you some headaches. Talk to a person

Thanks for the list Nitetimes.

The fact that someone would want to keep and refer to such a list underscores the apalling lack of customer service in this country. Most of the time these days, if you do manage get a live human being on the phone, you're talking to a call center in East Bumfuq India.

Tom,

That goes for other countries as well.

That is the number 1 complaint that I get when I am talking to my customers.
Just thank your lucky stars that you don't get the interactive voice response (IVR, for short). Our company has this IVR system that you can't seem to get around and it drives my customers crazy. TA recorded woman's voice answers and you have to explain in plain english what you want. Speak with a slight accent and you go nowhere fast. :? :x

When are these large companies going to realize that the first call is the MOST important call and when they make the customers frustrated it results in loss of sales!

I will usually just start pressing zero or not press anything at all, like I'm on a rotary phone. My biggest erk was having collection people at the credit card companies calling me, but I their accent was so thick I couldn't understand them. Needless to say, they are the ones I paid last.

One time I forgot to change my password at work and I got locked out. I called the help desk and the guy was in Scotland. I usually don't have a problem with accents but, his accent was so thick that I had no idea what he was telling me to do.

I really hate the automated menus that you have to talk into.

I remember a skit on one of the late night talk shows, Conan Leno, or Letterman. One of the writers was having a problem with their computer and called the help desk. He got resolved and told the girl that he would take her out for lunch for helping him. She said that she doubted it since she was in India. Well they show him boarding a plane and looking for her at the call center in India.

Rich,

Just wanted to thank you for the link. It's already been extremely helpful in two situations. You are definately the "Data Man". :applause:
Chris :D

Glad to be of service   I think it gets updated all the time or at least when someone finds a way around a system. If any of you have found a particular way around a company's phone system you can have it added to that list, I don't think the size or type of company matters.
Rich
