Any 1st Gen CR-V towers out there?

I have a 98 cr-v, hoping to get a 03 or 06 in the near future. I'm not interested in a soft-sided pop-up b/c there is possibility I would use this for short-term housing and not just recreation.

The CRV forums have a lot of good information and discussion about towing capacity and what hitch to use. But I would love some recommendations on what campers you love or use with your cr-v.

Any thoughts on brands, models and styles?

I Have a 2001, right before they came out with the new profile. I got my hitch at u-haul. My manual rates my towing capacity at 1000# with a 100# tongue weight. I can easily tow my teardrop that is probably around 900# loaded. I know it weighed 760# before I added my minimal built-ins. I don't have a battery or A/C and I carry my heavier stuff, like cast iron and my canopy in the vehicle. I can't even feel it on flat ground, but hills are a little slow.

That helps, thanks! May I ask what brand you have? The number of brands and styles out there are overwhelming and then when I see one I like, it's too heavy.

I had a 2003 CRV before recently trading up to a 2012. Had a Curt hitch installed by a local garage. No problems towing 1000+ pound trailer with PA gear in it, and my teardrop weighed less and was also no problem.

My teardrop is a homebuilt, not by me. There is picture in my gallery. Keep looking, you'll find a lightweight one eventually, there are lots of them out there, especially if you keep it simple.

We have a 2003 CRV, I believe the owners manual says towing capacity is 1500lb. We tow our teardrop which weighs only 650lb, and also our 13 foot Uhaul fiberglass camper that weighs 1250 not including whatever we pack into it. On the fiberglass Rv forum there is a retired couple with either a 2002 or 2004 CRV, manual transmission, and they are traveling all over the country towing a 16 foot Scamp that has to weigh well over 2000lb. I got our hitch from etrailer, I think it's a Curt.
