New to the forum, not to life!

Hi all! Emmett and Renee from Portland. We've tent camped, went to a pop up, then travel trailers (2) now back in a tent. On a fluke bought a restore project off CL. It's all aluminum we suspect from late 40s ( had a 1948 penny in the aluminum frame work). So I'm currently figuring the best way to repair holes in the skin. I'll post pics once I figure how to upload from an iPad. She is a ground up project, nothing inside, will be doing a blend of retro and current technology. Then out to test...hopefully by spring ;-)
My wife and I love to: hike, backpack, tandem bicycle, fish, hunt, and generally be outdoors!!
Of course living in the great NW makes it all possible....

Welcome to the forum

Sweet 1948 penny Woot Woot! A little time capsule you got. Best way to post Pictures I found is to store them on
Photobucket, Skydrive or any internet photo shight. Once the picture is there It will give you URL address for that
picture. Just copy and past that to your post. It will look like the line below without the spaces in the [img] text
brackets. I had to put in spaces just to show the line.

There is a galley in this form as well where you can store your pic’s here then you link to the galley picture in your post.
I like the first way my self.

Any how, if you get a picture posted I sure the old timers can ID the TD, and surely point you in the right direction to go

Welcome to the forum, neighbor! There are several of us lurking around the Portland area and the Teardroppers of Oregon And Washington group has a few gatherings per year. You will find a ton of info on this site and friendly folks.

Used my first tip from the board here. Used seal tite and made my own washers, screwed them to gather. The seal tite worked great! I can polish my "washers" and keep the skin looking authentic and "old" :-)

Can any one help identify this project?
Like I said we found a penny in all aluminum frame. The axel is newer, has caged roller bearings, they came out in'49.
The construction is fully solid rivets, hammered and well finished.

That is probably going to be a home build job. It does not resemble the 1947 Kit teardrops, 1947 Deanette
or the Benroys. The way the hatch closes just over a galley hole, and not covering across from side to side
is nothing I have seen. I have only be researching teardrops for 6 month so lets see if anyone else knows
different.

Have you checked for any manufacturer marking on the frame or any where?

No markings I can find. Nothing on the inside either. Lots of rivet holes, suggesting the skin was salvage from a plane.
