Things that don't fit anywhere else...

me thinks me has to much stuff

Postby pete42 » Sun Sep 23, 2012 11:00 am

after driving my 3 wheeled mobility scooter over to visit the neighbor yesterday
he ask "how many of those things do you have ", meaning my scooter ? I sat down and thought wow a lot that's for sure.
1-big 3 wheeled mobility scooter
1-small 3 wheeled mobility scooter
1-big 4 wheeled mobility scooter
1- jazzy wheelchair
1-regular wheelchair
1-regular folding walker
1-4 wheeled walker with a seat and brakes
1-set of wooden crutches
3-sets of aluminum crutches
1-bedside porta-pot
1-cane in the house
1 cane in the truck
1-cane in the car
1-device to help with putting on my socks

like I said way too many things but they all come in handy from time to time the scooters are used everyday as are one or the other of the canes.

one of these days, not to soon I hope, all I will need is a box and a hole in the ground............ :frightened:

Well, Pete, I sure hope it's later and not sooner on that box in the ground.

I take seniors to their Dr's appointments, dialysis, hair appointments (a new "do" makes anyone feel better!!), grocery shopping--whatever they need.

I figure part of my job is to make them laugh. There's only a couple that won't laugh, but I figure that's a pretty good percentage.

We all pretty much agree that as long as we wake up on this side of the grass that's it's a great day!!

.
Whatever it takes to get around and stay independent, if you can do it, you're still ahead of the game.
It means you still have some fight in you; but, a little mechanical assistance can make that fight a lot easier and more comfortable.

Well Pete, you have me beat. Let's see, just what do I have?

1-big 4 wheeled mobility scooter
1-small 4 wheeled mobility scooter
1-travel wheelchair (it folds up)
1 pair aluminum crutches
1- portable urinal (beside bed)
1- portable urinal (inside trailer)
2 walking canes with seats
2 oxygen concentrators (1 for home and 1 for trailer)
1 Inogen portable concentrator (fits in mobility scooter basket)
Plus it goes everywhere with me. To the store and also Restraunts.
And then I have 6 small and 6 large oxygen Cylinders with regulators as back up for when I have no power.

And that doesn't always get me through the day. Took another 'E' ticket ride Monday morning to the hospital. Got out today. Once again I had a claps lung and fluid around that lung preventing it from working the way it is designed to work. I'm feeling pretty good now but I guess I was a lot worst than I thought when I went in Monday morn. :o I do know that they didn't waste any time getting me to the hospital this time. :o
Sorry that I kind of side tracked this thread.

both of my "big" wheeled scooters the 4 wheeled one and the 3-wheeled one can go outside the 4 wheeled one is more stable but takes more room to turn
I was lucky on the 4-wheeled model the local medical supply co had some models while new they were used as rentals for a week at the local county fair
I was able to get it for half the price of a new one.

the 3 wheeled one I just bought couple weeks ago off craigslist a couple were moving to Florida and the
wife had a golf cart she used there
I was able to purchase the Legend 3-wheel scooter and the lift that fits inside a van he was asking $600 for both
since they were leaving the next day that and me having the cash I was able to get both for $400.
I would try e-bay and craigslist going thru medicare takes a lot of time and a heck of a lot of paper work and doctors visit
the doctor has to see you only for the purpose of getting a scooter the visit can not be combined with any other visit you may have medicare does pay for the visit.
Look at this site and you will have some Idea of the different sized scooters.
your father-in-law's size will enter into which one he will need remember the larger the wheels the easier the scooter will handle the bumps.

hope this helps
