I went to an estate sale this morning. Nothing old but I got 2 290A and a 286A. Non of them has even had the mantel burned in. 2 sparkers, one 290 is full of full. bad thing is one 290 globe is busted, still usable and no boxes. These could become users.

Except for my ICCC 20th lantern these are my newest lanterns. Price was not as good as Kirk seems to do but it will work.

I also finally got a fire extinguisher so people can stop harping on me not having one for when I do my projects that involve fire or molten iron.

Just checking in here...bought a house about 3 miles from here and have been really busy repainting, packing, moving, etc. So I haven't died or anything, just super busy. New house has room for my trailer, which is a really good thing. Right now it has one of those electric cooktops..brand new..with just the flat surface. Don't have a clue if CI pans can be used on it. Also not sure if I can cook toas-tites and waffle dogs on it. So I will have to keep a camp stove handy outside or my little red campfire (or my grill!) I will have a gas line run and a new gas cooktop installed. Until then, no semi-burnt flour tortillas for us, either!

I can't wait to have all my stuff over there..and be done with this nonsense. Then we can take our time (ha!) unpacking and actually relax. So far I've been loading up the truck and heading over before work...at 5:30 am..working 10 hours and then coming back here to load up again and head to the new house. It's getting old, but I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. This stuff won't move itself!

Sometimes I just dream about the times I've camped with some of you..and know that those good times are ahead. It will all be settled by the time we are at the Dam, for sure.

Here are two little Coleman Air –O- Lantern beauties for your enjoyment.
Image
Both of these were disassembled and in a box courtesy of the lone star gathering last month. The globes and generators were missing along with the mica globes. After first inspection – the dented nickle founts were a disappointment – but all the parts were there.
Image
I decided to try a little dent removal with the pressurized water technique – with no luck. However it did prove the fitness of the founts! So I reasoned that these would be “Character” lanterns and accompany me on camping trip ( no need to worry about getting the fount dented!) After a little bit of polishing and paint on the collars and housing, it was time to test

They may be dented and little worn on the nickel side – but they do work and owe their success to the simplicity of design. I don’t have to worry about spilling fuel on a painted surface, ventilators being chipped or even bail bashing!

Nothing wrong with dented and a little worn. Sounds like me

Wel haven't been here in a while, we've been out camping in the RWI the last couple of weekends and will be out next weekend! While out I picked up a few toys that I will be playing with, not too vintage but for the price they were good, a Kamplite RL2 single mantle and a 2/81 425F in 3 colors that I will redo for the contest. The Kamplite I can post pics later but the stove :

Also been working on the 200A that I got from Doug so I have a few projects to work on when I'm not camping this winter.

Cliff
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!
