Solar panel & batteries?

Postby rando18 » Sun Sep 23, 2012 7:58 pm

I'm putting a 100w solar panel on top of my 7x12 CTC.
I have 2 Deep Cycle batteries from costco. I want to run a small
thermoelectric cooler. Is this enough power and can the batteries
be kept inside the trailer?
Thanks in advance for all the replies.

it will depend on the amps in the batteries and the amp draw from the cooler, keep in mind if you draw the batteries down flat they don't like that and will wear out quickly.

Thermo electric coolers are power hogs, run continuously (as I understand em), will only cool 40f below ambient (best case) which may not be cool enough to keep your food safe, and no one that I've ever heard of has used one successfully.

Better a compressor based cooler like an Engle, Norcold, Edgestar, or Danfoss system.

Cheer,

Gus
