I have a friend who prides herself on having vacationed all over the world.
Yet, she has never seen her own country! To my way of thinking, that's sad.
I remind her of that every chance I get by asking her what she's seen in the USA or asking her if she's been to a certain place.
I think that I finally got my message through to her. She's driving across the nation next month.
But, it isn't necessary to see everything at once or even to see everything.
Places nearby can be such a treasure...and so much safer and easier to see than some far-away place.

I'm betting that many of us will understand, as we think back to pleasant family vacations or weekend trips that we have taken.
Sometimes, the best vacations are just a few miles or a few minutes away.

I'm with Slow on the stay out of Mexico. Where I use to work they had 18 Mexicans and seems none of them want to go to Mexico either.

I've made two trips with my Weekender to Seaford, one of which I stopped at Louella's for the foam build, and it worked great for a place to stay while working on a boat. I'm going to give it a longer test this weekend. Going to a dog show with the wife, 9/28/12 to 10/6/12, just South of Boston MA. I'll be just using the trailer for hauling all the stuff she needs for the dog show though, no camping. But it should be a good test of the road ability of my trailer though.Larry

I have been busy getting setup after I got moved into the property, and with no internet, I can only sneak in at work every now and then. I still only have the flatbed trailer built for the new teardrop and camping season is starting for me in two days with the first gathering of the season! I'll be tenting it this weekend, but it will be good to see the gang again!

A Co-worker of mine dreamed of retiring to Mexico, where all his brothers and sisters still live. That's exactly what he did. However, about five years later, he gave up and moved back to California where he bought another house and settled in for the rest of his life. He said it was just too dangerous down there in Mexico these days.

I'm not sure that I can play anymore here. I sold my Little Guy and bought a Chalet A Frame fold up trailer. That's what I've been doing this month.

I drove a few hours to find it. Then again to pick it up. I took it to a bluegrass festival that weekend. A couple days ago I returned from a week long camping trip. I'm liking it.

I do need to make a checklist for taking it down. I had to pull off into a chainup lane and put the thing back up after forgetting to lock the vent in place. That's happened twice. I also forgot that the pickup keys were inside so had to put it back up to get those out.
It tows well, but isn't as cute as the Little Guy. I was sad to see the Little Guy go, but life in the pointy trailer is better. No dog elbows in the back, I can wash up when showers are not feasible, and can get out of the weather.

Can I still play here?

Painted the inside of Miss Piggy today. Getting very close now.
Can't wait to sleep in it the first time.

Heading off for a camp out along the Rogue river this coming Sunday (Jeff State - Oregon side) ....we're having a real nice Indian summer here this year so far ("Native American summer"for those of you who might be easily offended)
It was 76 beautiful degrees here today....if this keeps up, we'll probably have nice campin weather thru Oct   Bring it on!!
