Window blinds

This is a question I was going to get around to asking soon also. Looking forward to seeing the answers (and hopefully, pictures).

We have little wooden blinds in the trailer that are hooked at the bottom so they don't flop around. Not really worried about privacy but it blocks out the park floodlights pretty well and we like that. I think it works better than curtains. That is just my opinion. Sorry no pictures of it.

I had a friend sew curtains lined with room darkening liner (same as eclipse and other room darkening curtains). Under really bright lights and even in the day light it is very dark inside my tear with the curtains drawn which is what I wanted. Very satisfied ---- darkens, privacy and sound insulation.

We took a cloth shower curtain with the built in grommets and cut it in half vertically and hemmed the edges. Then cut it to length and hemmed the bottom to just tuck into the mattress. It hangs from two cup hooks in each upper corner of the door. Simply take it down and fold it on a shelf when not in use. Remove one side to get in and out. No bulky stuff hanging over the door with cords, etc. Will post pics as soon as I can take them.

We are both Leo's born in August and our very first long distance outing was Indiana to Florida. We were walking thru Wally world and found novelty towels with a lion sleeping under a palm tree. Ya didn't have to hit me in the head with a brick. It was just ment to be.

I walked 4 aisles over and got some clip on cafe curtain rings. and went to the hardware aisle and purchased 2 screen door springs. When we arriver home I screwed one end of the spring to the door slid on 6 or so cafe rings and lightly stretched the spring and screw down the other end. We folded the towel in half and clipped it on. That was 4 years ago and they still hang there but have been down long enough for a few washings.

This is what I have done on all 3 of mine. I use upholstery fabric. It is thick and keeps the trailer dark inside. I just use a cheap rod that I cut to fit. Then I roll the curtain up like a bed roll. There is velcro on the back of the curtain and under the top flap that covers the roll. If you sew a second piece of velcro to the back of the curtain you can fold the curtain half way up to expose only the screen part of slider windows.





There is a large button hole where the window crank is. This helps hold the curtain in place and allows opening the window without moving the curtain.

My mom sewed curtains for our td. We have a s'mores theme, so she used s'mores fabric, and marshmallow forks for the rods, capped with wooden 'marshmallow' finials, lol.

Nothing says cozy like curtains, but I do have to use velcro at the bottom to keep them from fluttering about when the fan is on, and also when I'm changing.

And I love the S'Mores curtains. Using a marshmallow fork for the rod is very creative.

These curtains came with my Little Guy. They're a heavier cotton material, not a room darkening material, but you could use whatever material you want.

Because the walls are covered in carpeting, there is velcro sewn at the top of the two sides of the curtain to stick it to the wall. Then there are two 3" x 12" strips (approximate measurements) per side of the curtain that have velcro sewn at both ends. One end stays on the wall, and the other end will stick to the wall after the curtain is rolled up into the two pieces (look at the picture).

The curtains are long enough to touch the floor, so they get tucked between the window and the bed to stay in place while sleeping.

I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I plan to use a store bought valance. They are about the right length. I'll cut it to the right lengths and stitch the ends.

My trailer came with burlap curtains..I don't much care for them,but they'll do till I find some mini blinds or curtain material that I like.

My walls are thicker than my doors so on the inside there is a 3/4" recess. There is no protruding latch or hardware. The windows are aluminum, single glazed. The door facing is steel.

More for insulating that appearance I took a 3/4" piece of rigid foam cut to the size of the recess minus 1/8" for clearance and covered with a medium weight fabric. It is sewn with a 1" wide flap all around flush with the inside. A magnetic strip is sewn into the flap.

They fit snugly but the magnet makes sure they stay in place. They are easily removed without fumbling in the dark for latches and can be put in place or removed from either inside or outside. When not in use they make a padded headboard held in place by my mattress and pillow. Since they are not attached to the door they are not exposed to the outside elements, e.g., rain, wind, dust, smoke, sparks, etc.

I think they look cool and are unobtrusive on the inside, but the price is kinda high and you are limited to doors that are less then 27"wide and 33" tall. But if you use the premade 26"x32" doors from Vintage or even the ones from Little Guy its a perfect fit.
