Ken out of Los Vegas tows with one. First one was a window and I believe now he tows with the panel version. He's also a member here.

There was a fellow at the last Camp In- Camp out from Texas that pulled his 4 ft wide Camp In all over.

The HHR was the result of GM swiping the PT's designer during its run. Bryan Nesbitt basically designed both cars, and brought some ideas he'd had percolating for the PT when he took the job at GM.
I have a 2006 2LT and I'm liking it plenty well. I have a full sized truck (86 C10 Silverado) that'd tow a much larger trailer, but I do like the idea of a minimal trailer behind my lilliputian car.

I have a 2009 HHR Panel, and a 2008 Cobalt as well. I'm building a 4x8 TTT initially aiming for 1000 lbs or less total weight / 100 lbs tongue weight (the max weights as stated for towing in the owners manuals). I probably will exceed tat weight. I named it the "HHRv". I never started a build thread, but have many posts and photos in my gallery of my extremely slow build (very limited hands-on time, sporadic funding, modding as I go). A year in, but aim to finish before 12-21-12. I hope.

i have a 09 hhr. i actually love that little car. its my avatar with my tear. i haven't had any problems towing persay. but even without towing the car is real slow going up hills, like in the mountains. its even worse with towing.

Thats the trouble I had with small cars -- going up hills was so slow. Now if they would just put a diesel in a HHR that would be a really good tow vehicle. It would tow as good as my Jetta Diesel and have the convenience of the panel truck body.

I don't think that's going to happen. It was replaced this year by the Orlando in Canada and the Equinox in the US. If it weren't for it's discontinuation, I would have considered one for when my Aveo wears out.

I test drove one a while back. I went a block and turned right around and took it back to the dealer. I just couldn't see out of it well enough. When I pulled up to the first traffic light, I was first in line, and couldn't see the light without scrunching down and craning my neck. On the plus side, it had the smoothest 5 spd I have ever driven.

doesn't remind me of a PT it reminds me of the old 50's chevys.
if I could fit my mobility scooter in, I haven't tried I would like to have one.

I have a 2008 HHR with a class I hitch. I wanted a class II hitch but I couldn't find one. It's for a hoist that I use to get my wifes mobility scooter in and out of the car. I also pull a 5X8 utility trailer for those trips to the lumber yard. If I were to pull a small, light weight camper, I would definitely install a transmission cooler and avoid the mountains.

Since I sold my camper and the old Buick I've been thinking about one of these tents that attaches to the rear of your vehicle. But the jury is still out on that idea.

Another thing I found out when I had this hitch installed is how easy it is to install the trailer wireing. There is this wiring kit where you don't have to splice in to your vehicle wireing. It just plugs in to your taillights. You drill a small hole for the ground wire screw and that's it. It's called a T-1 connector.

The old and the new look. If you had the old you wouldn't have any problems towing.
